Looking damn good for Mamdani tonight. It would be a historic victory in New York, And it could hugely impact transgender New Yorkers. Story to potentially come soon, but for now, let’s watch it play out. Bonus predictit market prediction :)

This could really put New York on the map

let me tell you a story. in the last two weeks I've been visited by 3 Zohran canvassers -- young, half my age or a little more probably, all of them. they had all been at it for days or weeks. they looked visibly happy when I said I was voting for Big Z. zero Andrew Cuomo canvassers rang my bell.

I think Mamdani's win last night proves that campaigning on bold, progressive ideas (rather than wimpy centrism) is attractive to voters, and I hope the Democratic Party learns from this.

If Mamdani *were* to pull this out, what’s the over-under line for how much outside SuperPac money comes in to the general to try to stop him? $100 mil? $200?

Starmer’s illegal trans toilet ban in parliament coming into force yesterday is clearly designed to deter trans people from exercising our democratic right to lobby our elected representatives. Starmer’s Labour Party is not merely deeply transphobic, it is as anti-democratic as his owner, Trump.

Shocking stuff 🙄

the more i think about this the more i think that his campaign was a showcase for how centrists *say* they want democrats to campaign. the issue is that what this looks like varies from place to place. i would not expect mamdani to be able to win in virginia, but a mamdani-style campaign could!

You guys, Mamdani was the only Democratic candidate running who categorically opposed mask bans He was running against an establishment man with name recognition, huge amounts of funding & a history of abandoning the most vulnerable to die of covid This feels like a huge win for vulnerable people

Remember when JK Rowling said she'd march with trans people if we were discriminated against and now she is calling every single trans woman a man.

We need rank choice voting in more places please

Three years ago, a corrupt Supreme Court seized our rights and overturned Roe v. Wade. The resulted is just what we predicted. Women dying because they can't get basic healthcare. Doctors afraid to treat patients. We will not stop fighting until abortion rights are restored.

one more election thing this morning: because New York is large, people might lose sight of the Mamdani victory being local politics. but it is, and it points up the potential of local politics to reshape direction, to inspire broadly, to change the story

Being pro Palestine is no longer an albatross.

This is extra wild, considering all the polling predicted the opposite. It should make UK Labour reconsider whether following the polls blindly is wise.

The illegal trans toilet ban is ostensibly imposed by the Speaker. However it is inconceivable that Starmer did not have a hand in it.

Over the years, doing the work I do and in the way I do it, I’ve been subject to something in the region of a thousand complaints to my regulator. None have been upheld. I’m now going to start naming some of those who make regulatory complaints. Here’s why. 🧵

Back in 2020, Zohran Mamdani responded to a post of mine on a bill that’d have entirely repealed felony disenfranchisement, including allow people to vote from prison, by endorsing the idea: “the right to vote is inalienable.”

Incidentally this is a huge credibility boost for AOC. She took a risk, and it paid off.

A Democratic Party where one AOC endorsement is worth ten from establishment Dems is the future

The people have spoken, "transgender for everybody!"

So it tuns out that the polls weren't just a little off...Cuomo was never anywhere NEAR this. Mamdani gives me hope in a way I haven't felt in years. He feels like the future. America, get ready for this guy to be photoshopped in a communist hat on MSNBC and represented as Voldemort on CNN.

I guess you could say the people who thought Andrew Cuomo ran a better campaign than Zohran Mamdani were sequestered in echo chambers and out of touch with what people offline wanted out of a candidate

Its worth noting that in Britain, Mamdani would have thrown out of the Labour Party by a small room full LinkIn weirdos and then replaced by a former private healthcare lobbyist who would go on to lose by 5,000 votes to a Reform candidate who was a convinced sex offender.

a city with that many transsexuals not being run by a man who’s actively eager to betray them to an administration that wants them dead is a legit W. and hochul saying “i’ll work with you” is another W because she needs consistent pulling out of the whitmer-hugs-trump lane—she’s no pritzker.

If Parliament changed a rule they didn't have to change to specifically ban you the day before you were due to turn up to Parliament, you'd think it was targeted, too.

BE THERE TODAY. LET'S MAKE HISTORY.

Every time a Mamdani wins a primary or a Jonathan Ashworth loses his seat in a Labour landslide or an AOC beats an old establishment dinosaur it can feel like an anomaly for progressives. But young people vote progressively. They just do. And more and more of them are voting every year.

If you're a member of the Democratic gerontocracy, the chances of you catching a primary challenger just went up 1000%.

Zohran winning tonight is the opening salvo on a corrupt gerantocratic democratic establishment. Primary all of the old establishment and let the next generation take over. This is how we take on the oligarchs controlling the Democratic party.

A Muslim son of immigrants might become mayor of NYC in part because he cross endorsed and supported a Jewish candidate and Black candidate, and vice versa. It's a beautiful American story for the rest of us. A nightmare for all the right people ;) It's so New York.

Turns out there was a more exciting message than better things aren’t possible

Surprisingly effective things Zohran Mamdani ran on: -free buses -rent freeze -halal cart for $8 instead of $10 -taxing the 1% -no cost childcare -city-owned grocery stores -a Department Of Community Safety for mental health programs and crisis response -building affordable housing -why Cuomo sucks
