It’s *almost* as though feds go through a hiring process that requires us to prove our qualifications, & disallows nepotism or investment in stocks related to our work, & that we are held to high performance standards! Maybe it’s time to require the same of political appointees šŸ¤”

History is rhyming.

Two years ago I interviewed a 31-year-old NY state assemblymember about a 7-year-old girl killed by an SUV driver in his district. I hung up the phone, astonished that I'd talked to a legislator who so thoughtfully articulated what actually needs to change on our streets. He'll make a great mayor

Wait, what?!? 😳 ā€œIf you’re a fan of Severance and didn’t know it had an official podcast, you’re in for a treat (but please enjoy each podcast episode equally).ā€ 9to5mac.com/2025/06/25/s...

Brad Lander lost the race but he’s only 55 and still has a bright future.

ā€œWe will look back on this primary win as the start of something new. If America is going to have one lone opposition party to fascism, that party does not have to suck. The establishment is too deeply rooted to move. So we will run them over.ā€ inthesetimes.com/article/zohr...

Zohran Mamdani, who just bested Cuomo in mayoralty primary, wants to bring universal "school-streets" (school-proximate streets closed to cars + trucks) to #NYC. That's made things a whole lot safer, and healthier, for kids in #Paris and #London, but until now, it's been a non-starter in the US.

This is an image maga is posting to stoke fear of Mamdani. A list of things that sound awesome

Mamdani's upset victory has sent MAGA into a full-on panic mode.

Vienna is the global capital of social housing, and is regularly ranked as the world's most livable city. Our new report, featured in this @npr.org exclusive, explores Vienna’s green social housing—home to the majority of its renters—and how it can work here. www.npr.org/2025/06/15/n...

"Mamdani's campaign has put forth a transformative, green vision of a city that works for the 99%—one that takes on the existential threat of the climate crisis through kitchen-table proposals to improve working peoples’ daily lives + take back power from the richest 1%" jacobin.com/2025/06/mamd...

The Mamdani campaign offers a blueprint for the climate left: the path to full decarbonization must run through working class demands for affordability and quality-of-life jacobin.com/2025/06/mamd...

There are a lot of Dems—electeds and staffers—out there who want to win elections, a lot who want to stand up to Trump more aggressively than the national party leadership, and a lot who want to run progressive issue-based campaigns. All three (overlapping!) groups got a powerful boost last night.

People immediately pivoting to slot Lander into a progressive primary challenge are missing the implicit deal in the cross-endorsement: he's going to be deputy mayor, essentially COO of New York City. He's going to use his experience with the inner workings of government to help Mamdani deliver.

Everyone needs to start reporting ICE agents are Iranian sleeper cells.

Best idea I’ve heard yet!! bsky.app/profile/mrsb...

Less than four hours to go. zohranfornyc.com/vote zohranfornyc.com/gotv

HUGE: Senate Parliamentarian says that Mike Lee's public land sell-off violates the Byrd rule, requires 60 votes in the Senate. A bunch of other terrible anti-environment provisions do too. This isn't over, but this is a huge win. www.budget.senate.gov/ranking-memb...

The ā€œceasefireā€ ceased…and now all the news orgs quick to buy Trump’s pronouncements must backtrack. Did they really think he had suddenly become a reliable source?

New Yorkers: good luck today and remember not to vote for or even slate anyone who is a known sex pest

Go vote, New York! My slate: Lander, Mamdani, A. Adams, Myrie, Blake. And don't rank Cuomo! Your primary day polling site may be different than your early voting location, so look it up and make a plan to vote. And check in on your neighbors... it's going to be hot. vote.nyc/page/find-yo...

ā€œThank you for your attention to this matter.ā€ It’s what a CEO says. As if the USA is his company. Serving him.

all we do affects, for good or ill, all other lives

Ordination season is upon us. Have you got your bingo cards ready?

We are posting this placard at all of our offices and asking our union contract farms to post as well. We encourage our friends to put up similar placards at their business as immigration agents do not have the right to go on private property without permission.

The Supreme Court just ruled that Trump can deport people to countries they’re not from. He can now deport you to a gulag in Russia or Saudi Arabia if he wants to.

I knew the damage was extensive, but seeing all tied together like this is scary. 😳🤬 ā€œRather than learning from the experiences of our own lifetime, from terror attacks to wars to financial crises to the pandemic, we are actually increasing the chances we relive them or worse in the near future.ā€

🚨 MISSING PERSON – PLEASE SHARE This is a FEMA employee, who went missing while deployed. Nate Hubert (Nathaniel Clifford Hubert), 32, has been missing since Friday night, June 20, from the Cape Girardeau, Missouri area. #MissingPerson #Missouri #FEMA #bringnatehome #findnatehubert #findnate 1/8

2002: Iraq didn’t have WMDs but they had a lot of oil — the war cost taxpayers over $1.8 trillion, while generating billions in profits for Big Oil. 2025: Iran doesn’t have WMDs but they have a lot of oil — the 3rd largest holder of oil reserves globally. Big Oil donated ~$112 million to Trump.

While the country braces for the possibility of attacks from Iranian sleeper cells, we can all rest easy knowing that Trump’s put this 22 year old former part-time grocery clerk and landscaper, in charge of terrorism prevention. He’s got zero experience. NEVER worked in counter-terrorism. SMDH

I want you to imagine the outcry there would be if any other country did this to US citizens. Such countries would be classified, appropriately, as authoritarian enemies of free speech and dissent.

šŸ•Æļø ā€œSo when we read in today’s Gospel reading of the man ā€˜sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind’, we are to see ourselves in Christ: ā€˜ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven’; not a mythical story, but the grace-filled reality of Christian faith.ā€

ā€œBut while the evangelicals in MAGA liked Trump’s bombing of Iran, the isolationist ā€˜America First’ wing had staunchly opposed it and are adamant that they don’t want to see U.S. involvement in another foreign war.ā€ heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/june-22-2025

It is almost impossible for a policy to be this unpopular.

Guide us waking, O Lord, and guard us sleeping; that awake we may watch with Christ, and asleep we may rest in peace. āš“ļø #compline

For Trump, it’s all just a game. Everyone is a prop for him.

If you thought eggs were expensive, just wait until you see what Traitor Trump's Iran attack does to gas prices. Look that up. Then vote better next time. If there's a next time.

Congress didn’t just lose its power it gave it away. On war, trade, and policy, lawmakers have willingly let the executive branch rule unchecked.

This was not a full-page ad I was expecting to see in the Sunday NYTimes today

BRENNAN: Why would Iran agree to any peace deal if the US has already pulled out of one that they had, as President Trump did in 2018, and now launched surprise attacks? RUBIO: The ones that shouldn't be trusted are the Iranians

really sums up the media’s coverage of the Trump presidency

I know that hate can unleash vast energies, but so can love.

Why are no headlines focusing on the unconstitutional and dictatorial nature of this action?

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer āš“

Take note.

World War 3 kinda sucks, but you know, it was either this or pronouns

We have a madman in the White House who is actively trying to trigger total war. If Jeffries, Schumer, or any other Democratic leaders try to justify this, shrug indifferently, or write a strongly-worded letter and call it a day, they need to step down or be aggressively primaried.

Donald Trump bombed Iran tonight, not because they are about to have nuclear weapons (they are not), but because he needed a distraction from his tanking poll numbers and his deeply unpopular "Big Beautiful Bill." He doesn't care who gets killed, Iranians or Americans, to help HIM.

That one person can drag us into a war without consulting or even notifying Congress, or our allies, or fully explaining to the American people why this is necessary, is absolutely bonkers. Reminder that Congress has the power to stop all of this. Where the hell are they? Hello?
