Americans under 25 have no idea how anomalous and deranged it is for the news to report obsessively on the persona and psychology of the executive with respect to matters of policy and governance. This is not even remotely normal.

I feel like Musk could really blow MAGA's collective minds just by continuing to tweet out facts the rest of us have known for years but never penetrated their media bubble.

"We cannot build bananas in America" is an all timer

"I was this pedophile's biggest supporter until he was personally mean to me" seems like a bit of an own goal.

must be incredibly frustrating and disheartening to have federal funding that was promised to you for important work suddenly and arbitrarily ripped away

I'm just glad one of these men has the nuclear codes and the other has all our personal data.

somewhere inside the federal bureaucracy a 115-pound 19-year-old computer nerd is in the middle of firing 75 park rangers before turning on his phone and realizing his guardian angel just got merced by the president

this is a day for those of us who have spent the last six months terminally online. this is for us and honestly, we deserve it.

As with Noem, Duffy, Hegseth, Musk, & McMahon, Trumpism rewards officials who evince a complete lack of interest in, and even a hostility to, governing, & convey a boastful and belligerent ignorance about the most basic functions of their duties.

Lee Jae-myung, the South Korean politician who climbed the fence of the parliament to get inside and vote against martial law, has been elected president. Pretty cooool

credit rating agencies, but for how much we should credit public figures' utterances.

Takes a lot of chutzpah to make a $290 million political donation, assume a powerful position in government, use that power to fire tens of thousands of people and do immeasurable harm to American state capacity, and expect not to have to answer for it afterwards.

Don’t print lies in the newspaper Don’t keep hosting the far right authoritarians who engage in serial performative lying on your TV shows Don’t keep asking “Is the sun going to rise in the east?” when you can simply look outside & observe the direction of the sunrise What is journalism, anyway?

Chris Murphy on the crypto bill: "The problem is the existing version of that bill exempts the president from the ethics requirements. It says it's unethical for me to issue or market a stablecoin, but it's okay for the president to do it. That's not something any Democrat should vote for."

WELKER: If the big beautiful bill does add to the debt, will Trump own it? JOHNSON: It's not gonna add to the debt W: Experts say this will add trillions to the deficit. Can you really guarantee this will not add one penny of debt? JOHNSON: I'm telling you this is going to reduce the deficit

This is the kind of sweeping, truth-telling journalism we need more of. Good job, AP.

Absolutely bonkers — Joni Ernst doubles down on her “we are all gonna die” defense of Medicaid cuts while walking through a cemetery

Honolulu police say they are launching a review after attorneys accused officers of arresting sober drivers to meet quotas. The ACLU of Hawaii says it has identified at least 127 people arrested from 2022 through 2024 who had blood alcohol levels of 0.00.

What infuriates me so much about this new operation is that it is literally punishing people for following the rules and showing up to their court hearings. It is so toxic to the basic concept of following the rules. It is an operation designed by people who hate the concept of the rule of law.

i have begun to use “wicked” to describe these people. it is old fashioned but captures the active nature of their malevolence. they are *agents* of evil

I’ve never seen a dissent like this (on SCOTUS stripping away the asylum parole of nearly 500K human beings on the emergency docket) utexas.app.box.com/s/fkvbpqvf8w...

"A blithe, dehumanizing cruelty, and a deadly incuriosity" is an appropriate description of Elon Musk.

Every time I hear people argue that democrats need better messaging I come to the realization that one party is playing by old rules where facts matter and the other has gone all-in on flat out lies, and it works because the media writes more about how the facts aren't messaged well than the lies 🤷‍♂️

The Republican Party decided long ago that lying was a great political tactic, way better than yard signs, door-knocking and robo calls. The GOP realized its lies cost nothing to produce, and right-wing media would happily spread them, also for free.

See, students with the communist party are unAmerican because they do things like record their professors and report them to a surveillance state for wrongthink oh wait

As of today, Elon Musk is thought to be responsible for the death of 300,000 adults and kids due to the illegal closure of USAID (source: www.impactcounter.com/dashboard?vi...) That's a 103 deaths per hour, each day. And it will get worse. His legacy is one of death, destruction, and failure.

Oh, look, I wrote this two months ago.

Again, the only essential detail about Melon Husk is that he is a historically lawless criminal who should spend the rest of his years behind bars & have his entire personal fortune confiscated to reimburse the American taxpayer for his crimes

i have said this before but this is why it was and is important not to ignore the “NPC” language. these people really believe that other human beings are not real, with all the consequences that flow from this

Again, authoritarianism as a component of capitalism is about shifting from a society of relative privilege to one where it becomes normal that people will needlessly die, that to protest or speak out means risking death or imprisonment. This has been building for decades.

MAGA Murder Budget is arguably the most accurate descriptor.

The GOP’s health care plan just dropped

new loyalty tests for federal workers www.govexec.com/workforce/20...

Couldn't agree more with this. It's jaw-dropping to see the patty cake people are playing with him after what was a full constitutional assault that, oh by the way, is almost certainly going to lead to tens of thousands of people in the global south dying needlessly.

Why is the US Govt continuing to interfere in the domestic politics and elections of our allies, and why is the Homeland Security Secretary on a lengthy world tour?

these knobs are upset that they have to at least pretend to be doing work, which isn't as much fun as being a hateful trolling asshole all day on the internet most of these guys won't last a year

"everyone must get back in the office full-time" "help being in this office all the time is ruining my marriage"

"As Musk slinks away, spending went up, not down, during his tenure, and DOGE made the government less efficient, not more..." "A legacy of shattered institutions, weakened public services, and fired civil servants who did nothing but serve their country well..." www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

This is one of the best headlines I’ve ever seen. Direct and accurate.

Linda McMahon: "Universities should continue to be able to do research as long as they're abiding by the laws and in sync, I think, with the administration and what the administration is trying to accomplish."

Beyond parody.

The mRNA bird flu vaccines have been canceled. We now have some 4.8 million doses of other H5N1 vaccines, though it's not exactly clear how effective they are against current variants www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/...
