New @centeronbudget.bsky.social analysis of the draft GOP tax plan released yesterday: Unsurprisingly, it provides enormous tax cuts for the wealthy—including an average annual $65k cut for the top 1%—while doing little for low- and moderate-income families in 2027 (and even less by 2029).

I bet I can rise to the challenge and forget these looks.

TIL that Tesla insiders (executives, board members, etc) have sold *1.46 million* Tesla shares over the past 12 months, and bought precisely *zero* www.nasdaq.com/market-activ...

I’m going to start an ongoing thread of all the good types of cops Trump/Musk are defunding. First up, public corruption cops:

This administration is like a second pandemic. The biggest issue is all the avoidable deaths, but life is also marginally worse in a million little ways, and the foregone output (economic, academic, etc) will loom over us for decades to come

Annexation of Canada is all fun and games until it becomes the way Dems take back the senate

Canada, Germany, now Ukraine, trump has a great ability to untie countries around their unpopular leaders

I really do feel like I’m losing my mind.

The top criminal prosecutor in the U.S. attorney's office in Washington quit today, citing pressure by the Trump administration to open what she viewed as an improper criminal probe of a federal contract. ca.news.yahoo.com/senior-u-pro...

Awful, awful news. E Street is the premiere location in DC for independent and foreign cinema, even if many seats and bathroom stalls were busted. I have been going there regularly for over twenty years. This leaves a massive hole, and many local festivals will suffer. Fuck.

It’s the process that they I am most frustrated with

“When I think ‘progressive,’ I think of the ‘Squad,’” Mr. Morgan said, referring to the group of left-wing House members. “And when I think of ‘the Squad,’ I think of socialism, and when I think of socialism, I think of communism, and when I think of communism, I think of the downfall of countries.”

This isn’t normal

Consider the logic of the alleged quid pro quo with Eric Adams: You can [allegedly] accept bribes so a foreign country can build and open an unsafe building in your city, so long as you help combat individual migrants, many of them non-criminal.

This entire last year feels like a super long Key and Peele sketch about a diss track that gets out of hand

I've watched this video maybe 20 times in the last day

“Get that content in a non doom-scrolly way” - how I overheard someone describe Bluesky

"The median price of a home in California is $869,000. In Texas it is $349,000." www.liberalcurrents.com/the-crisis-o... I really really have found myself enjoying the work in Liberal Currents of late.

Me: [blasting my shotgun into the New Jersey skyline] You: Oh, are you trying to take down the drones? Me: Drones?

SCAMMER: How much money do you have in your bank account? ME: fourteen dollars SCAMMER: Okay, I need you to withdraw it all and put it in a shoeb—wait you said fourteen? ME: that’s correct SCAMMER: hold on one second [muffled noises] bro do you need help?

big tech has too much power

whelp that time of year again, have to spend $10,000 on drugs to hand out to elementary school kids

$3.75 in coins flew out of my pocket in an e scooter crash and now the bus stop teens are calling me sonic the hedgehog

today some teens were messing around on the train and one was wearing a paper Burger King crown and it fell off and rolled under my seat so I handed it back to her and seized the once in a lifetime opportunity to say “you dropped this” and they all went nuts and I am still buzzing with excitement

The democrats biggest problem isn’t their policies or ideas, it’s messaging The key is reaching out to voters who don’t follow the news. Getting mad at the NYT doesn’t matter because NYT readers are reliable democrats Voters who don’t follow the news primarily voted for Trump

From the Gonzales poll this week - 3/4 of Marylanders (a state Trump lost 2-1) favor law enforcement working with ICE to deport "aliens who have committed crimes." This is why Dems are running for the hills

So the LR Act allows for deportation of an alien if they are charged with a minor crime? They don’t have to be convicted? That doesn’t sound good But I guess why dems will vote for it is that the average American will not see the nuance and their is a general anti-immigrant attitude

[playing poker] FRIEND: I’m all in ME: [yearning for this type of commitment since we first met] me too, man, I’m all in too FRIEND: um, a pair of kings ME: you bet we are

i think rage at congestion pricing is a good example of how no one believes that the world can be positive sum anymore. like, people pay a small fee to get access to a faster commute — saving them valuable time — and the money improves public transit, saving other people valuable time. it's win-win!

whenever i stop and think about what’s likely gonna happen this year i cannot help but get very…very sad

The federal government spending money on pediatric cancer research is good, actually.

Amazing

I'm not good at anything. I dont do anything. I dont know anything. But I know this: Certain forces are out of control

I’m in New Jersey and have seen zero drones

me in my 20s: it’s saturday night! time to go get drunk and party!!! me in my 40s: ah, saturday night. time to enjoy an evening with my family and perhaps enjoy a drink or two me in my 8470s: huh. i think i might be god me in my 98580s: yep i’m god for sure

I'm not saying thing to irony-post or anything like that, but we're probably at the point where anti-establishment, anti-institution views constitute majority opinions in the US, and people who operate inside of legacy media or who are public officials need to account for that.
