Reading the archives of WSFS business meeting minutes (for my historic project on "Just What Do We Mean By Related Work) is being educational...um...amusing...um...confirming the allegation that WSFS Business Meeting is it's own distinct fandom.

New Lesbian Historic Motif Project blog -- continuing the life of an early 19th century female couple in Vermont. alpennia.com/blog/charity...

Yay, I did it! New podcast today -- a pocket synopsis of the lives of Charity Bryant and Sylvia Drake, a "married" couple in early 19th century Vermont. (Based on the book I'm currently blogging.) alpennia.com/blog/lesbian...

New Lesbian Historic Motif Project blog. Taking bets on whether I'll also get the podcast out today or whether I'll post it tomorrow. alpennia.com/blog/ephemer...

I have a Hugo Award history question that I’ll be asking in several places, but this seemed like potentially fertile ground. As context, I’m working on a historical study/analysis of “What exactly do we think a ‘related work’ is anyway?” 1/n

I really need to get started on my Hugo outfit. I have the fabric (medium-light weight cotton with irregular variably green striations). I have the concept (open-front swooshy coat dress worn over leggings and a pale green silk poet shirt). But I’m freezing at the step from concept to patterning.

Plum season has started at my house. I now have three different varieties producing regularly. I love plums. Heaven is having a yard that produces more plums than I can eat.

One aspect that might not be obvious to people outside the industry: if they change the flu vaccine formula to remove thimerosal, the new formula needs to be re-approved by the FDA. And that would mean new studies on stability and shelf-life (given that it’s a preservative).

New Lesbian Historic Motif Project blog, in which I continue reading Rachel Hope Cleve's "Charity and Sylvia" and ponder the accuracy of the fictional motif that you can spot a historic lesbian by her resistance to heterosexual marriage. alpennia.com/blog/marriag...

Huh, I'm not as close to publication #500 in the Lesbian Historic Motif Project as I thought. Somehow my numbering jumped from 469 to 479. So I have another 18 items before I have to decide what my ceremonial number 500 will be.

Someone left the cake out in the rain, I don’t think that I can take it, ‘Cause it took so long to bake it, Perhaps a tweak to the algorithm is in order. (Oh yeah—-)

"Charity and Sylvia" takes a gradual and deliberate path to building up the picture of the lives of two 18th century women who came to share their lives in something recognized as marriage-like. alpennia.com/blog/buildin...

Starting a new book for the Lesbian Historic Motif Project about an early 19th century "marriage" between two women in Vermont. alpennia.com/blog/america...

One of the problems with reading historic romance as an avid student of history is that I find myself asking, "And you had no qualms about dancing at a ball while only 3 months into your widowhood???" and "So what *did* happen to the horse and carriage when you got distracted having sex all night?"

I had been saving watching Murderbot for my Monday night BFF dinner dates…then we both had alternating life. Which means we burned through 3 episodes last week and 3 this week and now I’m not sure I can take the “watchus interruptus” of continuing with only a single episode at a time. So short!

New Lesbian Historic Motif Project blog. I'm being reminded of how much scrambling is involved when I try to blog every day! alpennia.com/blog/plethor...

New Lesbian Historic Motif Project blog, with a rumination on the cyclicity of gender/sexuality anxieties and social responses to them. alpennia.com/blog/demogra...

I didn't forget to post a Lesbian Historic Motif Project blog today, despite being a bit wiped out from attending a No Kings protest. alpennia.com/blog/how-be-...

Bumped into a friend who attends weekly protests in Walnut Creek. She says they normally skew much older than today. I hung out with her for about an hour but then it was getting painful to stand still and I called it a day. Massive numbers but I don’t know specifics.

All ages present but a very strong presence from the “we remember the ‘60s” crowd.

Here in Walnut Creek there’s too much ambient noise to hear the speeches, but someone came through relaying the basic March plans. Lots of creative signs.
