So I can celebrate Independent Bookstore Day (this Saturday) by calling attention to my lovely new local bookshop and being self-serving all at the same time, one of my favorite combinations.

So, B&N is having a preorder sale at the same time as Amazon is having a sale, and both are targeting Independent Bookstore Day, which is one of the biggest in-store shopping days of the year. It feels shitty as an indie bookstore to be targeted by billionaire and venture-backed corporations

PLEASE don’t buy into Amazon’s booksale this week. They are intentionally trying to eat into profits from Indie Bookstore Day this weekend, a really important annual event for our important community institutions. Check out your local fave or bookshop.org.

I'm struggling to be productive outside of work - the world is such a mess and work is awash in uncertainty - so tonight I want to declare my weekend achievements. I completed my tax return, cleaned my kitchen and I set up my cats favourite portable chair in the living room and she is happy.

Household discoveries: It turns out at my new apartment my dryer has a water tank that needs emptying occasionally. On the one hand happy I figured it out without needing to call maintenance, on the other hand I can see this getting annoying.
