🧵 Recently, a poll was carried out in the UK to see what respondents thought of the Supreme Court case about trans ppl. The findings of that court have been challenged by a number of experts & are likely to be in breach of the European Convention on Human Rights [1]

Im old enough to remember Trump’s last “Muslim ban” It disgusted the world & was met by protests on British streets against his racism. Today I bet we’ll be forced to discuss whether blanket bans on entire nations is good actually🙄 We’ve come a long way. All backwards. #r4today

Just starting to work out exactly how many British monarchs are "white British" under this. There aren't very many at all. ❌️ Charles III ❌️ George VI ❌️ Edward VIII ❌️ George V ❌️ Edward VII ❌️ Victoria ❌️ William IV and on and on

“We're wasting time and damaging our credibility by dealing with a bully." “We could add £25 billion to our economy if we had a customs union with the EU.” ‪@timfarron.bsky.social‬

🎥 "It should be that people have the power, and that means making sure that people can't buy elections." At our event in Parliament this week, @appgfairelections.bsky.social Vice Chair, @lisasmartmp.bsky.social called for action to stop the power of big money in our politics.

🇺🇸 "Trump is threatening us with 50% (tariffs), this is classic Trump, changing the terms of a deal he had already agreed" 🔸 Davey rightly questions the volatility of the President. 🇪🇺 To give Britain's businesses the confidence they need to invest we need a reliable partner; the EU.

There are some very smart cis people writing about the right wing influence from US on UK and I am *begging* them to stop ignoring what is happening to trans people. They are not *coming*. They are *here*.

So immigrants are bad if they integrate and marry a Brit. And bad if they don’t integrate and marry a Brit.

we have photos of her as a child and a whole back story where she had to fight against her family to even be allowed to box as a woman but some bigot somewhere reckons she has a Y chromosome and apparently that matters more than her entire actual life.

Freedom of assembly and association (but not for trans+ protesters). Respect for private and family life (but not for trans+ people) Freedom of expression (unless you are criticising the regulator). The degree to which the EHRC has become unmoored from Convention rights is quite shocking.

Trans kids used some chalk on a statue and it was national news

Just gonna leave this here and ask you to think about the (unfounded) reasons they used emergency legislation to ban puberty blockers

This argument also presumes that you can't lose your job or income *after* having children. Once again, a complete lack of imagination.

A work in progress (with a content warning attached) caused by seeing how #pride month has given papers permission to write more dismissive / dehumanising words on the trans community

Reform has five MPs, the Green Party has four, and the LibDems have 72 Do you think the media coverage of each of those parties has been proportional to their representation in parliament?

Useful that this is, at last, starting to be exposed in the UK media. Trans and non-binary folk have been at the brunt of this deluge of money and media manipulation for around a decade now. Now ADF, HF, etc think they've won that battle, they're switching to others - as we said they would.

Really strong statement from the British Medical Association: "The ruling will not change the problem of lack of available facilities in the NHS and may put more pressure on services to find alternative accommodations for trans patients who could not be accommodated safely or with privacy".

Prof Jovanna Dahlgren and Prof Riitakertuu Kaltiala are, in case you hadn't guessed, open campaigners against trans rights in Sweden and Finland. The "new evidence" contradicts decades of existing evidence saying the opposite, because it was commissioned to do so. Malpractice in real time.

This should be the final nail in the coffin for Thames Water. It needs to be turned into a public benefit company and Ofwat needs to be scrapped and replaced with a real regulator with teeth.

Basic guidance from @transactualuk.bsky.social on EHRC response now up. Bookmark the page, as it will expand as new information and content appears: transactual.org.uk/equality-act...

Worth noting that this is also what the UK government review found, it just ignored all the evidence in its conclusions.

Once again, @xkcd.com got it right.

Well, yes... www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

The biggest mistake I see in discussions of trans people's healthcare is the idea that hormones and the like are some special service just for us when really all kinds of people access the same health care for all kinds of reasons but they are *withheld* from us because we are trans

Another disapproving post

We understand that the EHRC consultation is now open for responses. We’re working on some guidance on how to respond and will have it with you as soon as we can. In the meantime - pause. Take a breath. Do something that brings you joy. And then write to the PM if you haven’t already this week.

Coverage of idiots claiming ‘betrayal’ or ‘surrender’ isn’t just bad journalism, it’s a dereliction of our duty to explain things. I’d actually forgotten just how bad it got but here we are, straight back to treating liars & spivs like authorities of equal weight to experts & honest brokers.

Every week, tens of thousands turn out to support trans people and Labour continue to back the 10 people who protest. Good luck at the next election with that ratio

Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. As #LibDems we always stand against these things and in solidarity with the LGBT+ community. We always will, if we have anything to do with it. We'll keep pushing for action too, locally and nationally. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🔶

On International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, I want to say to the LGBT+ community: I hear you, I get it, I stand with you, and the Liberal Democrats will never stop fighting to build a country and a world where you are truly free to be who you are.

At this rate, Reform councillors will end up costing significantly more in by-elections than they supposedly save by cutting diversity schemes.

Morgan McSweeney’s grand strategy of an Enoch Powell tribute act going really well, I see.

So, no awareness that every "difficult decision" they take, they punch down on the vulnerable, and that people have noticed: pensioners, disabled folk, trans folk and immigrants. And meanwhile they kow-tow to the wealthy.

Key point in this amazing thread. Well worth a read from the top.

Maybe, just maybe, trying to defend the PM’s comments - by saying they don’t reflect Enoch Powell when millions of people hear the resonance and similarity - is not sensible, and maybe the PM’s team might like to reflect on the feedback rather than simply leap into defence mode.

Has someone told you 'you can't use these changing rooms' or 'you'll have to use the men's toilets from now on'? If it's happened since the UK Supreme Court ruling on the Equality Act and you're over 18 and UK based, let us know: tinyurl.com/ReportALoo25 #Trans #Transgender #Nonbinary #Queer
