Ah, the depressing feeling when you had sorted your email to find something and forgot that you had done so and then spend a couple of hours content that it was a slow email day. Until you realize and fix the sort...

I sometimes feel like we could solve at least some of the 'they're taking our jobs!' drama by making it mandatory to make every single person (barring disability) have spent one week harvesting crops at the rate of pay that those people get paid.

Considering how much a nice cup of coffee would be useful right now, it truly is a miracle.

That's a mood

My window stays open year round except for rare occasions (and when it’s closed it’s usually more about sound than cold). I spent most of yesterday melting and thinking maybe I had a fever because it was only 76. Until I realized at 1am after waking up drenched that a friend had closed it.

I feel bad that I scheduled a party on the day of such an important protest day (I honestly just got the dates wrong) though I have to admit after the last couple of weeks drama I don’t know I could do crowds like that without a vague meltdown

Chicken sausage gumbo, rice, stone fruit bread pudding with either a honey cinnamon sauce or salted bourbon caramel, spiced bourbon cherry pie and browned butter sea salt cookies (other people ar bringing sides)

Dreaded words when I’m trying to make myself presentable. “I don’t know why I’m so fluffy today”

Because I basically rolled out of bed to start cooking and know better than to fry anything without an apron on I am totally doing the ticktock influencer thing of wearing an apron and my apron in the kitchen this morning

Not my prettiest pie but it smells good.

I have baking to do but it's also a work deadline so I have to stay available 45 minutes longer than usual. I guess the fruit just gets to marinate in bourbon longer

Dear work people: stop making me work, I have household stuff I need to do :-p

One of the amusing problems I have at work is that since I like helping/explaining things to people is that I end up half training anyone in other departments that asks me a question because I always provide context rather than sticking to just an answer.

Morning political annoyance headline “some democrats worry about villainizing Ice agents” They ARE villains. They chose to work for an agency that never should have existed as its only purpose is to enable racism.

Probably the most me thing I’ve ever said”sun, dear god why is there sun?”

I love this response someone made to "Describe your favorite movie in a misleading way"

This makes it look like the pedestrian’s head burst into black flames.

I'm fucking exhausted, y'all. And sort of glad my mom's phone was dead so I could justify telling her via message that her sister (NOT the one she found out was likely dying soon) is in the hospital with brain lesions.

Fuck you, universe. Now my other aunt is in the hospital

I just noticed the janitor in my office has a sense of humor

Fun Fact: Ducks are often seen standing still in the rain. Most think it’s because their waterproof feathers keep them dry and that staying still helps conserve energy, but we have our own theory🦆🌧️🐥 #naturalhabitok #naturalhabitat #naturalhabitatshorts

Being an American means knowing that military spending can only ever go up even if even decreasing it 1% would give congress 80 billion dollars to fund other things.

Ah the good old "You compartmentalized your feelings so you could function in a stressful situation and now if something small but bad happens or your watch a sad commercial you find yourself tearing up" portion of this weeks entertainment.

Cowlicks are Mother Nature's way of saying, "Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me."

Trying to explain to coworkers that I couldn't just hotspot my phone to work when my internet was down this morning because we get almost no signal in the building without wireless calling.

I am amused

I put some Christmas lights up in my office because I wanted some color in here. One of the faculty asked what it was about and I told him I was just bored of white walls and he was "I kinda like it" (I did NOT answer 'have you met me' when asked why I wanted sparkly lights)

I have, at least, booked a trip to Albuquerque (where I will not turn left) to visit my ma.

Having dealt with family drama most of the weekend I'd really have liked an extra day of weekend. Too close to the 'sad commercial makes me sob' edge but I'm at least reading a comfort book.

Whoops, tripped a fell into a book that was lying on my bed

The problem with baking as much as I do is that sometimes I crave a pastry and don't have the stuff to make it or am just tired but also paying the cost of a pastry at a bakery is painful since I can often get three times the amount for the same price if I make it myself.
