Just some creepy armed Mad Max guys trying to gain entry to Dodgers Stadium. ICE says it wasn’t them. DHS says they were Border Patrol. But honestly who the hell knows? They’ve given permission for any psycho to put on a ski mask, point a gun, grab people & throw them into an unmarked vehicle.

It’s a failure of journalism to do shit like this. Donald Trump has said that something will happen “within two weeks” at least 5,000 times in the past decade with easily over 4,900 of those “deadlines” passing with no action.

This essay by @brianklaas.bsky.social is a must-read. The impact of LLMs on critical thinking is like a WMD for the mind.

Like I've said before, if you have any doubts about climate change, just go to a super-boring insurance conference and listen to the super-boring panels where they dryly talk about the growing threat of disasters so catastrophic and unpredictable in scope they simply cannot be insured at any price.

I think a lot of journalists and politicians thought that coming to Bluesky would get them praised and worshipped like it was 2017 Twitter and the fact that didn’t instantly happen has absolutely broken their brains

the lesson of this isn't that tucker carlson is actually good but that you should ask these people basic factual questions instead of bullshit about politics

There’s an alternate universe where Fred Trump hugged his children and a 17yo Stephen Miller got to third base, once, and in THAT reality, President Tim Kaine is in the first term of the most boring administration you could imagine.

Ah yes who could forget the central plot point of star wars, rogue one, and andor: "it's not important to know stuff about the death star"

Hey Siri--What is the most jaw droppingly stupid idea in this, The Era of Stupid Ideas?

I spoke to a dozen of activists inside Iran. They have one thing in common: They oppose the Israeli attacks and they want the war to stop. www.theatlantic.com/internationa...

Overnight, Russia launched its deadliest attack on Kyiv in nearly a year. This is a reminder of Putin's cruelty and just another reason the United States must stand firm in our commitment to aiding Ukraine. Russia is the obstacle to peace, not Ukraine.

He’s a disease that must be cut away.

since the world is ending it feels like a good time to admit I was the one who voted for crash to win best picture

I still can't get past the idea that people in America are now supposed to accept that this is a valid form of law enforcement and just assume it's fine when random dudes in groups with face-coverings, no ID, no warrant, & no uniform grab people off the street and force them into unmarked vehicles

charlie kirk has entered his “posting like a facebook winemom” era

More Australians get their news via social media than traditional sources for first time, report finds

prepare for what follows

Seems at least a possibility worth considering that Trump is just bored and annoyed at having to be at the G7 and wants to go home.

It constantly blows my mind that we have elected someone so gobsmackingly uncomprehending of the gravity and responsibility of his office that he does not grasp how insanely dangerous it is to fire off comments like this on a whim.

I'm trying to imagine a Democratic president saying openly and proudly that he would be sending federal agents to target the 'Republican Power Center' in Texas, Florida, and Tennessee. We would be in the midst of a civil war before he'd finished saying those words.

These people are the enemy.

How I look through the glass at the salad bar when the pudding’s all gone

It’s bleak out there, but it’s heartening to know millions of people from all walks of life took the time to ruin one specific persons birthday, America’s hater spirit remains strong

Andor is a documentary

Over 2,000 peaceful protests happened in all 50 states. Millions marched against Trump’s fascist agenda. #NoKingsDay may be the biggest anti-administration protest in modern U.S. history. #RESIST #DefendDemocracy

I watched this parade for an hour and forty-five minutes. If you missed it, this captures the vibe perfectly. You don't really need to see anything else.

The anti-American Fox “News” is working hard to avoid covering the #NoKings rallies happening peacefully around the country, and when Fox does address the rallies/protests the camera shots are absurdly avoiding showing the crowd turnout. I don’t know how journalists who work there sleep at night.

I'm sorry but the largest protest of my lifetime is not the 7th or 8th biggest news story in the country behind "what does Gen Z want from Instagram?" This shit is humiliating. Rearrange your layout to meet this moment. Omitting the thing happening in every American city is malpractice.

Boebert: What we’re seeing in LA is an insurrection Pritzker: You don’t know understand what insurrection is. It is outrageous that you are asking that when you are the one condoning the pardoning of people that attacked police.

Sources said that even at the start of his second term, Trump was discussing with multiple advisers where & when it would make sense to send in federal troops, either for supposed crime control or in response to larger-scale public activism against his agenda. 🔗 www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

Awful: News orgs are credulously amplifying the ugly idea that sending troops into LA is good politics for Trump. This gives his lawless abuses of power the aura of conventional politics, obscuring how extraordinary and dangerous this moment truly is. 1/ (new piece) newrepublic.com/article/1966...

Future brownshirts for a dictator. America voted for this. Alas.

It is wild how much of right wing greivence culture is now just mom said you have to play with me

There are nowhere near enough soldiers, sheriffs, cops, and contractors to enforce martial law at any large scale in any major urban area. Greater LA alone has 18 million residents.

A deeply stupid and unserious country

Cannot stress enough that this is a pitiful action by a weak, scared, pathetic group of insecure, wannabe authoritarians, and they should be mocked until the end of time for wanting to bring in the military over some people protesting them at a Home Depot.

I admit to that. I have no faith that large numbers of people in the streets of Los Angeles will make good decisions, especially when there are people in DC who are itching to turn any spark into a conflagration.

Pete Hesgeth — who wants to rename the Navy ship that honors Medgar Evers, a WWII veteran who landed on Omaha Beach — is using that same beach for a photo op in which he promises we will “never forget” the veterans there. What an unbelievable asshole.

It seems inevitable that one of these ICE wannabe special ops guys is going to have one too many Black Rifle Coffees, see a gun when there isn't one, and open fire. I don't know what happens after that, but there aren't a lot of good options.

Probably his best post ever. Concise, good visuals.

Friday's NY Post cover doesn't disappoint:
