Hoping one of the best-named cafes in london is able to capitalise (no pun intended) on this afternoon’s celebrations

Quite a week for north london football. Spurs may be getting the headlines, but on Saturday 4th Wood Green won the district 5-a-side tournament and as their manager I’m hoping it buys me another year in the job

Ok, call me naff, but I quite liked Portugal

The sauna song is just a great song if you can’t understand the lyrics enough to know it’s a novelty song

I think Armenia owe Destiny’s Child a writing credit

The teenager advised that Germany’s song was “a vibe” and I can remember it better than the one that was just on so I might be persuaded

It’s not her performing 30 years ago in 1995 that’s amazing me, it’s that 1995 was 30 years ago

Depressed David Bowie

Finland might win

Netherlands demonstrating the effectiveness of a coherent song here

Latvia had a bit of a The Secret History vibe

Spain seems to have lifted bits from a load of former winners' songs and I reckon it could work

Respect to Switzerland for the Eurovision set

I write haikus now I doubt there’s money in it but they lift my heart

Nothing says “summer’s here” like the annual email reminding us Portaloo is a trademark (I think I’ve said this before so maybe this is a sign too)

Crikey. Where did the VE Day bookers find Toploader?

Hate to be a show off but I’ve often eaten them correctly. Prefer a Hobnob though www.theguardian.com/food/2025/ap...

Someone just spent 12 minutes trying to sign me up to a crypto exchange called Toro Signal. Apparently I’d “shown an interest in finance in the past”. Weirdly they weren’t put off when I mentioned my job

Gutted. The dark chocolate is the best foil for the honey and nougat www.theguardian.com/business/202...

Really sad days yesterday as we said goodbye to so many great friends and colleagues and to a paper I’ve been so proud to write for whenever I could. No more Observer Cash from our desk after this Sunday. The end of an era

Bit of analysis from me. Tariffs are on a scale that will be *devastating* for some economies, while for the US, corrosive uncertainty - far from over after tonight - makes a Trumpcession look more likely than a “golden age”: www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

It’s mind boggling but more than that, it’s depressing. This is going to cause pain to so many people. I feel quite despairing

I’m sure he mentioned countries imposing 200% tariffs but they are weirdly missing from this chart

Some of these tariff rates are absolutely brutal - 46% for Vietnam, 49% for Cambodia, 37% for Bangladesh, 29% for Pakistan. The idea any of these countries have victimised the US seems somewhat far fetched.

Given he doesn’t know the difference between tariffs and VAT reciprocal tariffs are set to be huge, aren’t they?
