Time for a whole new monetization strategy for the App Store. Funny enough, I think Apple is in a good spot to completely upend the industry in a way that's good for Apple and devs. Apple needs a win here, and they've got the cash and headroom to provide it. Just have to get past the nonsense.

A relatively minor leak. I hope the Notes export to Markdown is a sign of bigger updates for the app. Animation in the Lock Screen Music widget is nice. And the iMessage Polls feature is a no-brainer. I'm excited for WWDC25. Ignore the claims that it's a small one, they're always wrong.

I understand the point this post is trying to convey, but I'll never understand the defensiveness. We need cows and crops. We don't need large-scale IP theft so a rando can make Darth Vader say "fuck." Aim for less servers, on-device AI, more sustainable power sources, better cooling. Not this.

Dang, Apple told @gruber.foo no when he invited them to send guests to The Talk Show Live for WWDC. First time since 2015. Can't help but think there's a reason, and something tells me it's something rotten. Apple has been that petty before, so I wouldn't put it past them.
