I'd make a full self driving joke if this wasn't such a massive waste of my tax money.

CARTOON OF THE DAY (From @dccartoonist.bsky.social ) #Juneteenth

“The end of the constitutional republic as we know it could be happening now.” @govpritzker.illinois.gov studied Germany in the 30s — targeting immigrants and jews — and he’s concerned about what could lie ahead in the US. He says we all need to “speak out” and “show up to protest.”

After Bunker Hill, 30 people were picked up off the battlefield by the British & placed into Boston's gaol. All but 1 were kept until their deaths or transport to Halifax in Mar 1776. A few years ago, @boston1775.bsky.social and I investigated the story of Jacob Frost's improbably survival & escape

I remember being called a traitor and a Taliban sympathizer for saying this in 2003.

The Battle of Bunker Hill was fought 250 years ago today. Listen to our interview with Mike Troy of the American Revolution Podcast to learn how the battle unfolded and why Boston still treats the anniversary as a holiday. HUBhistory.com/329/

So the US Marines are being ordered to "liberate" a US state from its democratically elected government? California has a large National Guard, physical control of some of the country's most important military assets, and one of the world's best economies. I don't understand how they're not at war.

If I squint, I can see the YMCA on the left and high end grocer S. S. Pierce on the right.

I carded Sam Neill at the club I worked at in college.

The world is on fire, and I set a new 50 lap personal best in the pool this morning.

Love it

I just learned something new about one of Boston's most important Civil War monuments. 🗃️ www.wcvb.com/article/a-bo...

Boston saw its most destructive (non-sports) riot in decades on May 31, 2020, and I watched uniformed Boston Police officers in BPD Special Operations vests start it.

"The military parade will be a parade of force & intimidation by wanna-be authoritarians," said Joanne Freeman, a professor of history at Yale University. "It fits right alongside the outsized military display in CA right now—making the same point." www.commondreams.org/news/trump-n...

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures. He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power. He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

Rally to be held in Boston in response to ICE raids in LA

WATCH: “Here’s the big scary LA protest — look: you don’t see the cops or the National guard here… are there any fires or chemical smoke? Wonder why that is.” The people are peaceful. Law enforcement is doing the escalating. Intentionally. This has always been Trump’s plan.

It's the oldest playbook in America... 1. Protesters assert their first amendment right to assemble 2. Police attack them with gas, clubs, flashbangs, vehicles, horses 3. Press reports on that "violence hit demonstrations," implying that it was the protesters who are violent

This is an important reminder: even the LAPD acknowledged yesterday that everything was peaceful. Then Trump brought the chaos. He is responsible.

This is a preview. I hope Mayor Wu and Governor Healey are prepared to defend Boston.

It is completely unlawful for ICE to turn away members of Congress like this. The law could not be more clear; no member of Congress may be denied access to a facility where ICE is detaining someone, and they cannot be required to schedule in advance. Surprise inspections must be surprise.

🌳📜 On this day in 1875, the people of Boston voted to create a unified park system, laying the groundwork for what we now know as the Boston Parks and Recreation Department. Join us in celebrating 150 years of parks for people! #Boston #BostonParks

June 9, 1775: The Continental Congress directs that Massachusetts should form its own government. The colony is no longer considered to have a legal governor now that its military governor, Gen. Thomas Gage “is carrying on Hostilities against his Majesty’s peaceable and loyal Subjects.” 1/3

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

Now that we've seen that Trump will illegally federalize the National Guard over a governor's orders, we need Governor Healey to call up the guard NOW and deploy it to protect our Commonwealth from any impending federal attacks.

Maybe it’s not people speaking truth causing outrage…maybe it’s the actual outrageous tactics being used for mass deportation 🤔

Happy fifth anniversary to my most popular tweet

💔 I hope they both made it
