Happy about the Karen Read acquittal. No matter what anyone may think of her, the state didn’t prove its case — mostly because the cops didn’t investigate John O’Keefe’s death. They thought they could tag it on Read from the start, and their corruption bit them in the ass. That’s why people cheered.

The systemic bias protecting cops is one of the biggest issues in the U.S. Karen Read had a fighting chance, but imagine those without her wealth, whiteness, and public support. Most people never get the chance to tell their story. They end up jailed and silenced. This injustice must be stopped.

Anyway - AWFUL police investigation - canton, Boston & the state PD needs to clean themselves up pronto. They are clowns. Mass criminal court oversight needed & verdict forms obv need revamping. No justice for John OKeefe but not guilty for #karenread verdicts were correct based on trial evidence.

Having a bit of a hard time with the concept that if a guy in a police uniform who has a police vehicle shows up I should lock the doors and call 911, but if a guy in a ski mask with an hGH gut appears to be kidnapping my neighbor, I shouldn’t ask who he is if I don’t want federal charges.

ICE just arrested Brad Lander, the NYC Comptroller and one of the leading candidates for Mayor, without grounds. He was conducting routine immigration court work, escorting individuals from hearings. He asked ICE for their warrant - well within his legal rights. This is political intimidation.
