No donations for 3 days. Please share & give if you've anything to spare, every dollar helps when you've got nothing and are being starved & attacked. Ramadan's not on Bsky (they kept deleting him) and can't promote his fundraiser himself.

Any news agency that reports "the US is closer to war" or similar phrasing is propaganda and you should not trust them ever again, note down the reporters name and never trust them again, do not fund them, end your sub. The US just went to war. Iran can opt to retaliate under international law.

Nick rocks. Great teacher. Go, if you're able.

Possession: Dreams of Suffering and Sanity. Coming soon through PS Publishing's, Electric Dream House. A lot went into this one. Thanks to Neil Snowdon and Guy Adams for getting behind the book.

I know JAWS gets a lot of praise for not showing the shark much, but let’s be real, so many movies don’t even show you a shark at all.

The Year of Blue stories are often my favourites when I get a new issue of Interzone, including this one.

Y’all if you write about how you use AI to do the work of writing I am just going to block you and never read your books or think about you again.

this is such an important point. i do not think that the typical american understands that for most of their lives, someone like james madison or george washington or thomas jefferson was *surrounded* by black people.

A big point in my Founders in American memory class is that the visual culture of the 19th century whitewashed the era of the revolution out of recognition. I ask students if there were Black soldiers at Yorktown and if anything they describe back the Trumbull painting.

Includes a new story by yours truly🥰

Zohran genuinely seems to like people in a way that is not predicated on needing to order them around

I'm BEGGING short fiction markets (of any size) to include their AI policy in their submission requirements. This brought to you by reading 5 straight that made no mention of a policy at all. Sad to say, but no mention means anything they publish would invite the shadow of AI-generation suspicions.

read and support INTERZONE for more human made stories and art! (here is my latest cover art for them :-) graphite and digital colour)

real ones always put the ones still incarcerated first, "the hundreds of men I leave behind" then the imagination to say I want to visit this place when it is a museum to the racism of this country

part of why the original 28 days later is so good is because it looks that way. blurry, fuzzy, smeared. like footage from a riot.

Visiting the UK in the past couple of weeks I picked up a copy of the latest @forteantimes.bsky.social , containing an article on Japanese toilet ghosts by my good friend @lauramauro.bsky.social It’s their first article for FT, the cover story and a damn good read!

Agreed. It raised my eyebrow significantly when Boy George did a face-turn just... in the last week or so? because that was somebody who'd been scornful of social justice etiquette waking up to the hate. I wondered if it could be a sign of a tide turning among the celebs, & Fry is a real bellwether.

I only saw 28 DAYS LATER the one time, but in a cinema and I loved the use of degraded video photography that only looked worse after being transferred to a 35 print (same cinematographer shot Vinterberg’s THE CELEBRATION)

The mole

What if we all calmed down and acted nice in normal ways. Looked out for one another. Made beautiful things. Ate delicious food. Sought real solutions for real problems and took needed action. Cared about one another. Tried to make things better.
