I did not expect asking Copilot a question about a particular football game in the 1980s to turn into a two-way conversation

It only took me five days to realize that the power bank I bought for my computer would be more effective if I had actually shut everything down when the power went out and FPL said it would take three hours to come back on

And just as I was about to start being productive, our power went out and it’s an estimate of three hours until it is back. So I guess was have to hit the casino

Which of my lovely tax peeps can help me. I have 4 clients whose return was rejected because they don’t have ID PINs ( the return today) and they aren’t able to log in to the IRS to retrieve them. Logistically it would be ideal if they could scan signature pages to me and I sent the returns in

Thank you to the #tax community I found online when I left my old firm. In the week before the deadline, I had irl communications with at least five of you, with both moral and technical support going both ways. Even some who didn't know answered, helped by tagging in others who they thought would

This is a first. I just completed a return where wage withholding exactly equaled the tax liability

I just read that the local ABC affiliate is not renewing it’s contract this summer and it feels like a really big thing - but I’m not sure why

Why is it so difficult for clients to understand that(1)not all phone numbers receive texts,(2) sending tax documents or information by phone makes it very difficult to get stuff into files, and(3)if you’re question is about x for company y, it is better to change the subject from “a for company b”

If I wanted to be someplace the temperature feels like 36 degrees, I would not live in South Florida

I know that it is warm compared to the rest of the country, but I do not live in South Florida for 53( feels like 46) degree weather

IRS time frames and notices are getting absurd. Client filed and paid substantial balance due on 10/15/24. IRS didn't apply payment made under spouse's name to MFJ return, and assessed penalties 11/18/24. I called and got payment corrected on 12/10/24.

I’m sure the combination of having to work at an office, special treatment on the IRS hiring freeze, and the budget proposals will do wonders for response times at the IRS. TaxBS

I have an efile acceptance for a 2023 Form 1120-S, but the client got a notification that it couldn't be processed because records show that it is a S corporation. Have any of you seen this happen before? In the past, the e-file system wouldn't accept the return if a mismatch
