The end of the school year is always weird and filled with a wide range of emotions, but a kid gave me a drawing of all the red headed cartoon characters and its stuff like that that reminds me that at least maybe I did a little something right so I probably should come back next year.

1. Tech companies push AI into everything with no guardrails. 2. Schools decide they have to “get ahead” and give students the AI access and force everyone to use it. 3. Everyone cheats and no one can define cheating anymore. 4. Educators are told to be more engaging so students won’t cheat. 🤔

I need more StoryGraph friends.

Really excited to start our summer Rainbow book club today (even though we aren’t out of school yet 😩) because it combines all of my favorite things- reading, non-physical competition, and libraries!

I was just thinking about AI & how I'd describe one of my objections as, "I don't want to outsource my thinking to anyone, even if my thinking is often very stressful," and I think I also inadvertently summed up a large part of my personality.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s hilarious (not funny haha but funny in the everything is absurd and every day feels insane way) that the Warped Tour is *also* happening in DC today?

Would have been embarrassed if I didn’t get that blue connections category immediately.

She deserves so much better than to be scapegoated and disrespected by people who literally don’t understand what the Library of Congress is.

“Ms. What kind of white are you?” “I’m Jewish.” “But isn’t that your religion?” (Proceeds to explain the concept of ethnoreligion and how it’s my ethnicity and my religion) “Woah. I learned something new today!” Glad I could still teach someone something on the 9 millionth day of school!

AI is bad and it’s wrong and it lies and I cannot wrap my head around all of these schools and educational institutions deciding they have to train students to use something that absolutely no one has decided a purpose for or value of yet. Like actually what are we doing?

One fun thing about being a teacher is telling the kids that you’re significantly older than you actually are and then they shower you with compliments. You’re right, I do look *amazing* for 60!

I don’t know what Pluto is but it appears to have a dedicated Beverly Hills 90210 channel?

I can’t stop watching David Byrne and Olivia Rodrigo, they’re so freaking cute together.

Volunteering at the tie dye booth at Pride today. A little rain won’t stop us!

While we’re bringing back Rachel Zoe, can someone find Tabitha?

They left off the last part: parents and students decide to cut out the middle man, get their “education” from chatbots, and universities collapse.

"Black applicants would, on average, need credit scores approximately 120 points higher than white applicants to receive the same approval rate, and about 30 points higher to receive the same interest rate."

“This finding suggests that LLMs are learning from the data they are trained on, which includes a history of racial disparities in mortgage lending, and potentially incorporating triggers for racial bias from other contexts,”

I need everyone to stop making Real Housewives of DC jokes because first that it is some housewives history erasure and second it is messing up my actual housewives feed.

I’m watching this week’s Top Chef and I have a question. Why is it always the Olympics?

One way to get me to turn off your podcast real fast is to proudly announce that the next part was done with ai. I’m good, that’s not what I’m listening to a podcast for.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I guess a lot happened today but I was really busy at work and can’t/don’t want to catch up, but I will say Go O’s! Another win!!!!!

Feeling like a literal rockstar after taking my middle schoolers to see the high school. So many hugs from former students, it’s so nice to see them thriving ❤️

Um whoever put Elmo on Trackstar is a genius that was adorable.

That was so easy and felt so nice to do! I love my library and am so grateful for all of their amazing Pride programming. They do such a good job having activities and events for all ages.

hey here's something I would love us all to do like RIGHT NOW: find out if your local library is doing any kind of pride programming or display, and if they are, email them to say thank you and why it matters to you. whether or not you're queer. especially if you're in an area where it's fraught

I kind of forgot about Kate Nash and that’s on me, but it’s nice to see her out and making noise and getting so much attention for standing up for trans rights and now I’m going to stream the eff out of her music.

Today we were reading arguments from anti-suffragists. I wish I could have taken pictures of all the girls faces when they read that women shouldn’t vote because they might disagree with their husbands and then get divorced. Approximately 60 pairs of eyes that said “so? Then get divorced.”

Oh my god I can finally watch Jeopardy again!!!!!
