A system already exists to over-confidently state incorrect facts to women, thanks, we don’t need another one

leftists: that thing you teach us in school to be terrified of is happening historians: that thing is definitely happening star wars: here is a beat-for-beat breakdown of how the thing happens, but with pew pew lasers. we know you watched it news outlets: these protesters are out of control

I’m getting somewhere near to finishing this thing while Pride month is still on, at least. I usually end up finishing things at the exact wrong time of year to wear them.

Newsletter: We are in the era of the Business Idiot, where middle management has seized power, breeding out true meritocracy and value-creation in favor of symbolic growth and superficial intelligence. This piece ties together everything I've ever written. www.wheresyoured.at/the-era-of-t...

Let's Streisand effect this up a representative from building management [asked] who was responsible for the Reddit post and demanded that it be deleted. The representative allegedly told Yu that negative press coverage would mean “our goodwill will be gone” www.londoncentric.media/p/high-rise-...

This also claims that people who were born abroad are not British. Which is very much not what my birth certificate (issued by a British consulate) says.

Money spent on Rowling's work is money donated to transphobia. I don't want to single out individual actors but I consider the HBO Harry Potter series a moral disaster. You literally cannot separate the art from the artist on an economic level.

I was putting something in my car’s boot. I hadn’t put the hatch all the way up, and I knocked my head on the edge. Life-changing brain injury.

Meanwhile, shredding protections for the UK's creative industries - again, worth £125 billion a year - on behalf of some American tech companies that will go bankrupt the second the AI bubble bursts

People need to sit in VFX reviews and understand how many stages and person-hours there are in “Hollywood effects” before deciding if a machine has properly “replicated” it. They’d then hopefully start to understand the gap between imitation and generation.

Oh no, I’m now one of those people who orders off-menu at Starbucks*. (Coffee frappucino without any additional syrups… I was also a person who did not know how best to describe the thing they wanted. Because it was not on the menu) *sometimes a Starbucks is all that’s in the place where you are

*Tune to Starman* There's a conclave In the vatican We don't know who's the next pope But it's probably a man There's a conclave in the vatican They've got the smoke all ready so they'll tell us when they can They'll tell us Who will speak to nations Do the incantations The transubstantiations

Hell YEAH I use AI An Incredible amount of energy just trying to get through my day as a creative person living in a world that increasingly seems to devalue the arts in favour of producing anti-human slop to line the pockets of hard-right silicon valley losers who should be stuffed in a locker

Hey! Press covering Trump! The statute that lets him impose tariffs at will? It EXPLICITLY excludes movies. He has no authority to do this. Not just bc of an absence of authorization, but bc the law says “you CANNOT do this.” Do NOT say “Trump has imposed movie tariffs,” bc he did not. He CANNOT.

Omg

The Greens now have nearly 200 more councillors than Reform. This is not something you'd be likely to guess from all the copiously salivating media coverage of Farage & his crew of billionaire-backed far-right chancers.

I… what? No. I get that you were hoping to have been able to have sold these things to me by now, but you’re not my mother.

I see no way in which this could possibly bode ill for any minority.

No more social mobility. Stay in your lane, plebs.

The British Medical Association has come out and called the transphobic ruling of the Supreme Court “scientifically illiterate”.

Survivorship bias means AI models have evolved to be very good at appearing correct to the kind of people who work on AI models (dipshits & grifters)

The answer, as it has always been for at least the last fifty years, is that the Labour party exist to be bedblockers, taking up the space where a progressive party could be, and vehemently opposing any constitutional changes that might create a space for an actual alternative.

I reckon Google could probably quietly change it back to the Gulf of Mexico now.

“Talking with the vice president helped the cardinal better understand the Book of Job,” said a Vatican spokesperson, who added that the Book of Job itself was not discussed.

Kidlit colleagues, just a reminder that JK Rowling *funded* this challenge over the definition of women at the Supreme Court. Every time you choose to work with her, platform her, take a stance that aligns with her, buy her books, nominate her for more awards, she uses that and funds hate.

In the YouGov data for most popular British TV shows, there is only one drama in the top 20. There are 12 comedies. Someone has got to sort out funding more comedy, because we really like it.

I’m late to the #BrokenVeil party, but so far it’s a hearty “strongly recommend”. They balance the tales of unusual phenomena with a healthy degree of skeptical commentary, and the sound design/ incidental music really brings the moments of otherworldly unease to prominence.

Loving Chisola’s business cape, though. #BBCApprentice

They’re probably my next vote (or Greens). I simply cannot give a vote to Labour after what’s been happening so far in their term. Even tactically. They’re chasing the Reform vote that they’re never going to get, confident that FPTP will save them when it comes to the ballot.

Ah the annual car servicing hustle. Who knows if those parts NEED to be replaced? And if that’s a reasonable cost? Certainly not me. And the garage people know that.
