The plot, it is lost

Being a Red Sox fan is so infuriating sometimes. A team that can’t help but repeatedly trade away its best and most popular players.

No Kings! Fort wayne indiana.

Will Rogers, public menace

The orchestration in this part of the show—the high string arpeggio/scale figures plus pizz lower strings—reminds me a lot of Schönberg's Verklärte Nacht. Idk if that's coincidence. Glad they chose it for the Tonys performance bc I think it was maybe the most arresting musical section of the show.

Aww. I really did love MAYBE HAPPY ENDING. It’s really fresh and creative and different — and productions of it have been beloved in other parts of the world for years and years, by the way.

Really humbling when your one year old stunts on your ability to focus on something by playing with a single manipulable toy for 44 minutes straight

Clearly 🐝 is not edited by Baudrillard

Johnny-come-lately with this, but saw Maybe Happy Ending in NY this past weekend and it's not that many shows the last decade that have as many ear worms as this one. Neat show all around.

Once again coming away from Music and the Moving Image feeling like I’ve never seen any movies. There are too many of them, too much movies. (IOW my to-watch list is getting huge again! A great problem to have.) (And also what a great conference. One of the best.)

Three years later, he was sitting in literally that room. (Also, I went to lots of concerts there. Can confirm, not very funny.)

I just looked at where a spike in traffic last month came from. Lo and behold

More chilling than the actual promos for AMERICAN PSYCHO

Defragmenting

Travesty

The program for the North American Conference on Nineteenth-Century Music is here! I'm so excited to host these fine scholars on the campus of Wayne State University from June 25-27. sites.google.com/view/nac19cm...

This was the exact connection I had during The Scene (which was a super striking piece of film making, even music aside). Thinking I might teach SINNERS in my film music class this fall. Maybe a week-long mini unit with Renaissance, maybe with a chapter from Matthew Morrison’s Blacksound.

you're welcome

The movie was Sinners, if that matters

Just got out of a movie, anything happen?

This reminds me of one of the most charming things about my PhD alma mater (Brandeis): the mascot is the Judges and the student section for sports games is the Jury

i think the biggest public relations coup AI boosters scored was calling it “AI.” people genuinely think it is an intelligence, and that when they query it, it is providing reasoned answers

Maybe this is stupid, but micro plastics on/in the brain while re-reading Vibrant Matter

utterly bereft to learn that by “monster” Ross only means “large” here

They should cal it Kiss Me, Kate

File under: At least it’s something

students read Marianna Ritchey’s article on neoliberalism and M*son B*tes and I always hedge a bit on the article’s critique—I agree w much of it, but like leaving space for students who like the music. Several had played another piece by him, and boy I didn’t mean to radicalize them so much

This Indiana-Illinois secession thing continues to be such a stupid waste of time and money.

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

She deserves everything

Apropos of nothing

i appreciate ok go's ongoing commitment to spectacular practical effects
