I haven't looked at today's papers but I'm watching BBC MOTD's tribute to Gary Lineker, whose last show was last night, and I imagine they are apoplectic. The message is very clear - Lineker is loved at MOTD, MOTD is his life. There's no reason he should be forced out of his job like this. Spite.
