Crucial point from @brianbeutler.bsky.social here www.offmessage.net/p/immigratio...

The New York Times covers trans issues the way Fox News covers ICE protests. Both lead the country to believe there is a conflagration by highlighting a few fires over and over, while ignoring the fact that most people just want to live their lives without the government in their faces.

Gen Z/Alpha: the 2000s were cool we should bring some of that back Millennials: ok, let us tell you about some of our fav- Z/Alpha: *blasting creed and trying on low waisted jncos* Millennials: no wait The Govt: oh hell yeah! *frantically starts fabricating evidence of WMDs in the Middle East*

AOC played ball and did everything Pelosi told her and was rewarded by being passed over for a 75-year-old who died four months later. There have now been four House votes this year where Dems lost by the margin of members who died in office. No one has more right to say this than her

So, a Fox personality calls for ICE to go to Dodger Stadium and then it happens a couple of days later. Our leaders now just getting their marching orders from right wing media.

“Don’t worry the pendulum will swing back” is: 1. A false assumption 2. Stunningly naive 3. Real loser shit

If there's one legacy of the War in Iraq that Democrats should have internalized, it's the fact that those who lined up behind the war drums all came to regret that decision while those who wisely refused to go along were soon vindicated. One of the latter rode that decision to the White House!

Like I've said before, if you have any doubts about climate change, just go to a super-boring insurance conference and listen to the super-boring panels where they dryly talk about the growing threat of disasters so catastrophic and unpredictable in scope they simply cannot be insured at any price.

This is a) part of a broader pattern by this admin to use "fraud" claims as a means to remove basic safety net supports b) not true, IRS validates income c) sort of ironic, since this admin has crippled the ability of the IRS to investigate fraud, esp for high income earners like them

BREAKING: The White House lashed out at the creators of this ad for "fear-mongering". It must have really struck a nerve. Maybe they don't like being outed as fascists. You know what to do: SPREAD THIS EVERYWHERE! #MAGAKidnappers

SIXTY federal agents kitted out like they were taking on Osama Bin Laden to raid a swap meet. The ONLY people they ended up arresting were to people already going through immigration court proceedings, seemingly rearrested because ICE agents didn’t want to go home empty-handed.

Retail sales drop 0.9% for May, with auto sales dropping by more than that, falling back to Oct 2024 levels. Ironically, more cars + trucks were made in May, while other factories made less, which sure isn't good, either. Oh, and now oil is up 23% in June. jakehasablog.blogspot.com/2025/06/us-r...

As always with Republicans, untaxed inheritance for me, a lifetime of hard work & no benefits for thee

CBO releases a “dynamic” score of the House-passed One Big Beautiful Bill Act, finding that it would add $2.77 trillion to the debt. That’s worse than the static score of $2.4 trillion in new debt. The reason? Economic growth revenue is outweighed by higher interest payments.

CBO just estimated the macrodynamic impact on the cost of the GOP bill - i.e., "is this bill going to help the economy so much that it pays for itself?" CBO said that the bill pays for just 3.5% of itself - w/ a tiny upfront economic boost that declines over time. Legitimately embarrassing for Rs.

Again: Watergate was a crime. WMD was a lie & disastrous policy failure. We still haven’t heard <a single> detail of a single crime or policy/governance failure happening, but yet he keeps conflating “Biden was old & senile” with the crimes & policy/governance failures of past presidents. It’s ugly.

All the Republican examples of "violent" rhetoric from Democrats is someone like Tim Walz saying "these people are assholes, you should be rude to them" and all the Republican equivalents are a guy with a top-secret security clearance tweeting "I will personally kill Ilhan Omar with a gun"

On the assassin of the Minnesota lawmakers, Jon Stewart said he doesn't care why the guy did it or "whether he listened to NPR or FOX News." Then floats funds for mental health and to stop illegal weapons. *Why* he did it tells you a lot! I'm tired of this refusal to accept what's happening here.

In 2016 MN Police killed a Black man named Philando Castile despite him disclosing he had a legal firearm. Yesterday MN Police released a white woman named Jenny Boelter despite her car full of cash, firearms, & passports hours after her husband mass murdered people & was on the run from police.
