We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.

This piece was published while the administration was threatening to send the military into a major American city to crush dissent. The Atlantic is a speak & spell for babies who can’t handle reality at this point.

BREAKING: please, everyone, turn on local news. there is NOTHING going on in LA. Its over, the protest broke up hours ago. Local news helicopters are trolling for trouble and there's none. Just some LAPD/LASD road blocks. If they 'send the Guard' now, its just because they really really want to.

EVERYBODY WATCH. ICE IS OUT OF CONTROL. Video of SEIU California’s President David Huerta getting assaulted & arrested during an ICE raid in the warehouse district of Downtown Los Angeles today. He’s an LA native, American citizen and labor leader. Don’t turn away.

Imagine having McDavid's brain and hands AND having Draisaitl as an extension of your brain.

We stand in solidarity with the immigrant community and demand for the release of everyone in the raids today. The actions of ICE and this administration are inhuman and immoral. Statement below on LA event today.

The California Labor Movement stands in strong solidarity with our brother David Huerta. We demand his immediate release! @seiuca.bsky.social

Around the time that Kilmar Abrego Garcia was indicted in the Middle District of Tennessee, the chief of the criminal division in that district posted this on LinkedIn: “Earlier today, after nearly 15 years as an Assistant United States Attorney, I resigned…”

Pretty sure this should tell you all you need to know about the veracity of the DOJ's charges against Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

As other people have pointed out, California's Republican House delegation could easily put a stop to this by withholding their support for the reconciliation bill, and yet there's no chance that they will

very fun to read frederick douglass accurately describe the problem with the pardon power in 1867

terrified to feel optimistic about anything but god, Zohran really is so good

We agree that everyone should have timely, accurate access to all crop reports.

Does Barro think labor unions in New York City were weaker in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s when the city was building things more easily? Is that the argument?

Willie Brown Middle School is a San Francisco 6-8 in the Bayview District. For the entire ‘24-‘25 school year, I have been driving the 44 O’Shaughnessy bus that stops there right after school gets out. That trip has been the busiest and most challenging part of my working day.

Good inning.

This Douthat "how do we get people to have babies" thing is like an unsuccessful Nichols and May improv

On Earth 2.0, folks on the other side of the aisle would say loud and clear that if "everyone involved in the deal understand the payment as the price of merger approval" then it is a bribe, and all of those people should expect to go to prison if it goes ahead in the next administration

Therefore, we intend to...?

"Mr Vrabel it appears your star WR rocks really hard and is cool as all hell. do you have comment"

Holy shit

Thanks, guys - we know.

While I sympathize with every post I see that excited about a primary challenge to Fetterman, I really doubt he'll ever run in another primary. He'll either retire because he hates the job, or he'll run as an indy with the (perhaps conscious, perhaps subconscious) goal of giving the seat to the GOP.

This trend, and the union density trend during the same period, are why the US is so deeply dysfunctional.

This is the way.
