Coverage of idiots claiming ‘betrayal’ or ‘surrender’ isn’t just bad journalism, it’s a dereliction of our duty to explain things. I’d actually forgotten just how bad it got but here we are, straight back to treating liars & spivs like authorities of equal weight to experts & honest brokers.

Scott Mills and Rylan weren’t joking about the BSL during Finland #Eurovision

So, for those killed and those whose voices are silenced: what more evidence do you need? Will you act now – decisively – to prevent genocide in Gaza and to ensure respect for international humanitarian law? This Council must prevail. Demand this ends.

Eighty years ago, enemies laid down their arms. Since then, we, Europeans, have built something extraordinary: a Union of peace, democracy, and solidarity. An anchor of stability. Our Union was born as a peace project, and it remains one today.

🚨 Thursday’s elections prove it: First Past the Post is broken. 5 parties, chaotic results, millions left unrepresented. We need Proportional Representation — NOW. ✍️ Sign the petition: actionnetwork.org/petitions/20...

For for the West of England mayoralty More in Common have: Lab: 23% Con: 21% Reform: 18% Green: 18% LD: 15% It is genuinely absurd to have an election with that kind of spread decided by first past the post. Unjustifiable.

89% of the world's people want to see governments around the world take more action on the climate crisis. We're the majority. The climate denial of the Tories and Reform is the minority. So, starting this Earth Day, let's speak up and show governments we want climate action NOW.

If Trump was President in 1940

YouGov finds that 40% of Republican voters think that the new tariffs will *help* them 😳

The trade war escalates…

no idea who made this but it’s genius

Can’t help but feel that if President Bernie Sanders pulled this move the entirety of American business would try to get him pushed out of office immediately.

With 10% tariffs on UK exports to the US there's no point in a deal and far, far more important for HMG to refocus efforts on UK EU trade improvements. We can shield each other to an extent from Trump by doing that. Just get on with it. Common sense deal.

The Labour leadership has lost sight of the difference between 'positive reasons' to vote *for* a party and 'negative reasons' *not* to vote for it Labour is working overtime to avoid giving its target voters reasons not to vote for it - but isn't giving people a reason to vote for it

Austerity with a red rosette.

Tough Choices!

Word of the day is ‘lickspittle’ (17th century): a person who fawns upon someone in power for personal gain.

Turns out despite what has been said, Europe is paying their fair share in order to aid Ukraine.

NEW: Official advisers CCC say UK shld cut emissions 87% by 2040 ⚖️Net cost of net-zero 73% less than thought 💷Total cost to 2050 = £108bn (~£4bn/yr, 0.2% GDP) 🏡🚗H’hold energy/fuel bills to fall £1,400 🔌Electrification is key THREAD + charts www.carbonbrief.org/... 1/10

Wow – amazing news this morning. Getting to net zero will be even cheaper than we previously thought & could save households £700 a year on bills, with more savings from switch to EVs. This is win-win-win for people in the UK and govt must commit to making it happen.

Great news and not a moment too soon! 🚆 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

And the UK, though now outside the EU, will, in the end, and despite bluster, have to follow suit.
