chuck tingle heads we WON!!!!

Every extra hour that ICE spends facing off with activists is an hour they can't spend kidnapping other people. Every extra minute ICE has to spend contingency planning around activists and neighbors, every extra officer ICE has to put on a kidnap squad, is a drain on their efficiency.

What happens when you build a life around surviving—long after you’ve “made it”? @jamieloftus.bsky.social joins us to talk inherited frugality, financial anxiety, and the emotional cost of creative freedom. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/p...

My little self care during these extremely terrible times is letting Sixteenth Minute Of Fame episodes pile up so I can binge it during particularly bad nights at work. The way @jamieloftus.bsky.social humanizes people is beautiful and enriching.

Finally listening to @jamieloftus.bsky.social ‘s Raw Dog & it’s a hoot which is a triumph given the topic is hot dogs. I may be biased as the throwaway line about being a “gifted kid” who took Latin was too accurate. The descriptions of flea bag motels made me nostalgic for family road trips.

thrilled to report that karen bass did not do a single thing meaningfully protect angelinos this week but she did sign me up for her substack against my will

San Fernando Valley: Help support local street cart vendors. ICE has kidnapped dozens of vendors and this is a great program by a trusted org: Venmo: @AetnaStreetSolidarity — use a taco emoji 🌮 in the memo field

if you live in the area, there are many local street cart vendors and businesses who are staying in to avoid ICE -- if you're able, contribute as you see them. fuck ICE forever here's one we gave to today in SFV:

Can’t believe nobody wants to go to a soccer game to be kidnapped by ICE

found this absolute slay of my bedroom when i was 14

Leave @jamieloftus.bsky.social alone

everyone, please watch the worst movie you've ever seen on tubi today. it's what my dad would have wanted for some reason.

Protesters from No Kings Day are jumping fences to avoid being kettled and arrested by police in downtown L.A. One older woman in a wheelchair has been surrounded by police. ~ @shoton35mm.bsky.social

just a reminder that only water goes in your eyes, don’t wear contacts to a protest if you can help it, hot showers will hurt like hell if you have mace or gas residue on your skin. turn off face ID on your phone. pick a buddy & never leave their side. if detained, ask for a lawyer & then shut up.

For those of us who are disabled or prohibited from protesting for any reason, here are ways we can help. I can’t take a service dog to a protest, it’s unsafe for him but also for others around us. I can do some of these.

glad there is finally some give with posting-as-praxis -- there's clear function to knowing where others stand and sharing resources, but you know what i mean if you're in the streets today, know your rights. if you're in your niche -- patrol, bail team, whatever it is -- you're doing great, too

Still waiting for the article that’s like “these right wing militia members are in a bubble and it would be healthier if they exposed themselves to left wing ideas”

Sluts riot Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

BREAKING: A few minutes ago, a vehicle of three people was rammed by a truck belonging to federal immigration authorities in Boyle Heights, CA. According to security footage shown to me, they deployed chemical munitions & detained the driver at gunpoint. All are US citizens according to the wife.

thinkin of this tweet for no particular reason

As protests ramp up again emotional and physical care and rest are some of the most important things we have to be doing for each other. This is VITAL work both tactically and strategically, people pushed past their limits just can't function and we can stop people Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

Shouting out my incredible colleagues in independent media who are doing amazing work to tell the story of the LA anti-ICE raids and subsequent overreaction from the WH. I have deep respect for the consistent care and accuracy in their reporting. Follow them, support their work. 🧵

I agree that nuance is needed but the specifics of 404’s reporting is that they absolutely have gotten footage from Waymos (with a warrant) and police have begun to use them to source footage. www.404media.co/waymo-pauses...

UPDATE: David Huerta was just released from custody!

Subscribe to support my independent reporting. You’ll get essays, public records, and reporting the bigger outlets miss. No billionaire owners or ads. Help make journalism a sustainable endeavor, and so I can quit my other job. Venmo: joeyneverjoe

Also point this out to anyone you can. These were not planned protests. These were normies getting the supplies for their weekend projects or at a restaurant and saw their servers getting hauled off and were like this is some bullshit.

we’re so absurdly lucky to have independent reporters in LA of this caliber

For those unfamiliar, LAPD on horseback also ran over protesters during the 2000 DNC. Clip ends with LAPD spokesman Cmdr. David Kalish blaming reporter for being run over by motorcycle cops... on. the. sidewalk. It's been like this in Los Angeles for 25 years. I keep archives. Video by Don Souza.

lmaoooooo hell yeah LA

Detainees inside the LA Federal detention center are flashing their lights for protesters.

Another thing to mention for people who don't live in LA. Most of LA is very chill and peaceful right now. There's a huge Pride fest going on, countless farmer's markets, tourists walking around, families at the parks, people walking their dogs. It's a big place.
