They do not want a college education to be accessible. One, because that makes it easier to funnel kids into the military. Two, because an uneducated electorate is easier to control.

1/6 I've called Bacon's office, and the staff at the end of the call said they were getting a lot of similar calls. Nebraskans are FURIOUS about his cowardice. Standing up to Trump? All talk, no action.

For my friends with babies: Did you know you can get your baby's MMR done before 1 year? 7 months works. (Relevant due to the current outbreaks and conspiracy theorists not vaccinating their children.)

@chrislhayes.bsky.social on the Omaha mayoral victory for Democrats: Politics haven't ceased existing because Donald Trump acts like a king. In fact, it looks like voters aren't happy with those Trump-like policies at all.

Why are ICE agents masked to begin with? Our law enforcement officers shouldn’t be anonymous. Ever.

Congrats Pope Leo the 14th. It may take an American Pope to fight back against an American Antichrist.

I’ve been describing for decades how germ theory denial and eugenicist attitudes are baked into antivax beliefs. None of this is a surprise. After all, if you can convince yourself that germs don’t cause disease, then it’s easy to believe that vaccines don’t work and are therefore unnecessary.

So how many Cabinet positions does Rubio need to be able to invoke the 25th by himself? He's at 4 now.

It's me, hi, I'm self-promoting, it's me.

#WhyWeStay 🧵 The yearly surge of RSV infections meant a full ER, full floor, and make-shift rooms in storage cupboards. Dozens of babies coming in daily with the same thing: stuffed up nose, coughing, trouble breathing. At night I would check each of the 40 babies on the floor looking for higher

This story is haunting me. Why is ICE over 900 miles from the border? Why are they operating without uniforms or badges? How do we know that these aren't just deputized Proud Boys or other MAGA militia? Where's the oversight? The accountability. I fear we have crossed the Rubicon with this one.

1/7 I made my calls again today. In part, encouraging Bacon to keep up the fight against Trump, but to point out to all three that the Ricketts townhalls continue to prove that no matter how Rural and White your audience, Nebraskans oppose Trump and his attacks on the constitution, and Tax the Rich.

The administration uses a “point system,” based in part on any photos with suspected gang members, to establish guilt by association for purposes of deportation to prison in El Salvador. Other points for suspicious tattoos that experts say aren’t indicative of these gangs.

Notice diesel prices dropping? No cargo in the ports, less demand for Semis. Impact on the economy in real time. Sadly, this also means less work for drivers. Not to mention less items Americans need.

A great thread on the the shit going down.

It’s 100 days in, and the polls consistently look very bad for Trump, even on his core issues of the economy and immigration. I dive into what the numbers say and what they could mean going forward, in today’s write-up. Check it out in the replies.

A developing political scandal in Florida has put Gov. Ron DeSantis on the defensive. Republican lawmakers are investigating how $10 million in state money was diverted for use in a campaign.

Listening to Pete Buttigieg on Flagrant, and it occurred to me that he gets it while Gavin Newsom sadly doesn’t. You don’t make a podcast then force your Democratic audiences to listen to Steve Bannon and Charlie Kirk. You go on manosphere podcasts to have their audiences listen to your ideas.

The federal government plans to eliminate services for LGBTQ youth who call 988, the national suicide and crisis hotline, according to a Health and Human Services budget draft leaked last week.

@altnps.bsky.social isn’t wrong. As govt employees, regardless of tenure, we are held to much higher standards than those in the White House, Congress and any other political appointee. And we DO “advance the policy interests of the President” when such is LEGAL. Our oath is to the Constitution!
