Today on Endangered Species Day, I want to highlight the Laysan Duck. This Hawaiian duck remains critically endangered, but they are moving in the right direction. Work continues to help them thrive on Laysan Island and the Midway and Kure atolls.

"Whatever you think of the advent of romantasy onto the SFF scene, be assured that it isn’t a problem to be solved. It’s an opportunity." @readingtheend.bsky.social discusses where romance & romantasy sit within genre–and how to get the right book to the right person: reactormag.com/how-do-you-s...

I oscillate between wanting to read fantasy or sci-fi books more. Been on a run of sci-fi lately, but I feel the window closing. And I have a feeling the fantasy run is going to be epic.

As a millennial, I find it very difficult to write an email without at least one exclamation point.

With #LPSC2025 about to start, it's time to share what I've been working on during the last months and will be presenting at the conference. This is a new high resolution 3D model of the Mont Mercou outcrop in Gale crater, that I made during my recent internship at LPG Nantes. #planetsci 🧵

What’s good for the duck is good for the herd.

Pond Trek.

Clear my schedule. There’s new books coming out.

For the first time since its release, Lady Drakeslayer, Passage Two of the Divine Godsqueen Coda, is on sale! You can also pick up The Godsblood Tragedy for wicked cheap too! Lots of cool books in this sale, love the idea of a Sequel Sale!! 🔗⬇️

Anyone want to borrow my book?

Tulips.

Between you and me, I heard the mallards are behind the whole thing

I do this thing where I’ll write a first chapter of a book, decide I don’t like it, and give up on the idea. Another cached US Kindle giveaway: 10 copies of @jcmberne.bsky.social's Wistful Ascending (Hybrid Helix Book 1), which is a HOOT. It's a superhero space opera fantasy romcom lovecraftian moral story about, honestly, I lost my train of thought somewhere along the way. #KindleBookGiveaway

Today I realized I should stop trying to write novels and just write novellas instead. More suited to my style and no more concern about making it long enough.

One of these days I’ll finally read my growing pile of graphic novels.

Queer Ducks by @eliotschrefer.bsky.social is a wonderful biology text on animal sexuality. I learned something new and eye-opening in every chapter. I can earnestly say the way I view animal behavior and humanity’s place amongst it has changed.

Give a duck some bread and you feed him for a day. Teach a duck to bake and he will try to open a bakery, but the local government will deny the application, citing (bogus) health and safety concerns.

If you see this post your getaway vehicle Isn’t it majestic?

Yesterday I made the mistake of reading A Cup of Tea at the Mouth of Hell by @luketarzian.bsky.social in public. When this novelette’s curtain of emotion falls upon you, it’s unavoidable. An exquisitely crafted and earnest book.
