Wyrmspan for Father’s Day. I’ve not played Wingspan but I really like this one. But as a fantasy geek of course I do. You get to collect dragons! While playing I think to myself this needs an RPG where you get to be a dragonologist. Of course I thought that. Being a designer is a curse sometimes. :P

Hey guys, respectfully, please consider following this KS and sharing it with a FRIEND www.kickstarter.com/projects/lau...

What a couple of dorks…

The party would not have survived this one, but luckily a hag seeking revenge on them felt they had better uses than dragonfood. Lest you think me too nice. They all self stabilized through death saves. I did not patch them up or save any of them. #dnd

Congrats to all involved! Especially my friends, @jasondurall.bsky.social and @dzappone.bsky.social. Well deserved for both. Can't wait to see where things go next.

Patreon post where I ruminate on Chupacabra Con 2025 (it was awesome), how the playtests for 'Of Hearth & the Harrowing' went at the con (awesome), the next steps for the project are, etc... You can join for FREE to get updates about the game's progress.

Post con: Lots to talk about/digest. So far, my health seems good (only Monday). Wishing everyone from ChupacabraCon (and UKGE/other con this weekend) the same. Back to work, but will get some updates out soon about con thoughts, game changes, and where 'Of Hearth & the Harrowing' goes from here!

At ChupacabraCon 2025 in San Marcos, TX. Gets a little bigger each year. Great con. Great people. Great games. Happy to be here testing and showing off ‘Of Hearth & the Harrowing’! Come say hi if you see wandering around.

Ramona is not kidding when she says she has a freebie library. There is GREAT stuff here. I want to be able to afford her commissions, but in the meantime I've loved using her library of stuff. Its all PWYW (and I did pay into it at a level similar to stock art level). Go get it. Buy her a coffee.

I did, in fact, get stupid with it. So many prints and revisions and prints. Won’t be done but will be done enough for the con.

Today's accomplishments: 1. Character sheet fixes (I still missed something, sigh) 2. Character sheet made fillable (tabbing did not save, will have to redo later, see above, sigh) 3. Did minor edits on layout of the book 4. Put pregens on new fillable sheet 5. Finished SW Region map. #ttrpg #indie

Did some mapping, got it to a good place, now I want to print it. I need 11x17. Upload to office store, preview looks like CRAP. This can not be the same as it will come out. Preview shows it tiny... I made it at 150DPI since it is eventually for a poster map, but this is crazy. #cartography #ttrpg

Sometimes game design is about finding all the fiddly bits in your design and streamlining them for the sake of teaching and ease of play. Sometimes game design is about deliberately inserting fiddly bits in your design because that makes the game play. These are not contradictory.

I finished the first revision of the layout for the 'Of Hearth & the Harrowing' rulebook tonight. It is missing a TON of art, but it feels really good to have it to this point. At least all the placeholders are in for where the art goes, which will help working with the artists. #ttrpg #indie #brp

Layout continues, con prep, and more on my free Patreon for my #indie #ttrpg ‘Of Hearth & the Harrowing’. Including the latest character sheet revisions.

I'm screaming. ROGUE TRADER is legitimately one of my favorite games of the last two years and so seeing a DARK HERESY game now come to bear makes me so hyped. Also, Catachan and Kroot companions? AND AN OGRYN?!?!!? Let's go!!! #warhammer40k

Playtest last night for 'Of Hearth & the Harrowing' went really well. Lots of things coming into place that are feeling like the finishing touches on the journey for the rules. Layout is underway and hopefully Chupacabra Con playtests provide the last lock in for the ruleset. #indie #ttrpg

All pregens for the upcoming ChupacabraCon finished (google sheet). Need to update the character sheet and transfer them to that, and update the extra info that comes with them (some got new powers). Still feels good to have all that math out of the way. Earlier I wrote 16 new powers! #ttrpg #indie

Got a lot more layout done today. It’s pretty addictive. To see the words fill the space and pick where an image will one day go. I need to stop and write some more powers and finish prep for a con in a week and a half. But I don’t want to. I wanna keep doing layout. Heh. #ttrpg #indie

Three fireballs went off (exploded gunpowder barrels) when a burning hands was cast into two of them. This was the scene after, at the end of the session. Dragonkin (and a dragon) surround the party. Will they make it out? I can’t wait to find out if they escape or it ends up yet another TPK.

Wife and I playing Jaipur. It is one of our favorite two player games.

I've decided to do 3 pro-bono book covers by end of the year for trans self-pub writers. Are you trans? Do you need a book cover? Like my art? Sound off below! (It's 3 for now because I don't know if I'll have time to do more this year. If there is interest I'll try to do more next year!)

Shout out your favorite resources for creating #ttrpg art and imagery that are *not* gen AI! Whether it's artists who provide stock art, a repository of CC-BY images, or a directory of public domain works, drop your faves in the replies! We'll start: Smithsonian Open Access www.si.edu/openaccess

More layout work tonight. It’s painfully slow. Mostly due to my learning as I go and finding giant gaps in what I wrote when I look at it on the laid out page. Still. Fun and satisfying in its own way. #indie #ttrpg

And so it begins. Just getting started figuring out trade dress, styles, etc. “Of Hearth & the Harrowing” #ttrpg #indie #writing

Busy Mother's Day weekend. Though we also spent a lot of time relaxing. I managed to get some sections written for "Of Hearth & the Harrowing". Mostly things I've already talked about, but getting them into the manuscript was good. Got a new (to me) graphics tablet... (1/?) #indie #ttrpg #writing

Yes, dropping it to 30%/10% for 90 days is worth celebrating. But also no, a 30% tariff is NOT worth celebrating! It is still a capricious arbitrary tax of 30% on AMERICANS for goods we rely on. And it can change back at any moment. Congress & the courts still need to step in and stop this madness.

The Hearth phase in my table top game is not just a base building phase, it is a chance for heroes to recover from adventuring in a dark world. It is slice of life, where they can help out around the village (known as the Hearth). This is perfect for cutscenes and roleplaying. (1/?) #indie #ttrpg

Couple of games of Dominion today. I won the second game. Got smashed the first game. Second game, 53 points. Fun times.
