This doesn’t make sense to me. ANY major surgery last several hours. I used to work in Cardiology. Do insurance companies know how long a triple bypass takes? Roughly 3-6 hours WITHOUT complications. Minimally invasive spinal surgery, like spinal fusion is about 2.5 hours, also w/out complications.
