Nothing triggers MAGA like a Pope who follows the teachings of Christ.

Senator Booker (who is in Nashville today) responds to Mayor Baraka’s arrest…

Has she ever visited the Library of Congress? It's not open to the public. You need to get a pass either for the day or an actual library card. Children under the age of 16 are not there unaccompanied.

I cannot interpret the President's budget tue same way as this post ( I don't believe 3/4 is correct), but it is still true that their plan is to shrink or eliminate some NPS units, especially if they can produce Oil, Gas, or Ore. #DrillBabyDrill #PublicLands

During Phnom Penh’s hot season, as many as 15 employees a month became too weak to work at one Nike factory, a medical worker said. At other times of year, 8-10 workers a month wound up in the clinic because they felt weak, she said. By @robwdavis.bsky.social

The Education Department’s civil rights office once helped push a South Dakota school district to treat its Native students equally. Under Trump, that same office decided that helping Indigenous students would discriminate against white students: propub.li/3GIdTRr

A very helpful guide to this badly written and ill conceived new law, answering questions such as "SB 1 doesn't define what it means by 'diversity, equity, and inclusion' so how does one know when something is DEI and therefore banned?"

Goodnight, friends. In Hope in the Dark, @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social reminds us, "Inside the word 'emergency' is 'emerge'; from an emergency new things come forth. The old certainties are crumbling fast, but danger and possibility are sisters." Let's keep our eyes on possibilities. I love you.

One of the most shocking things I have read for a while: t.co/lg46ijHLDF

Harvard scientist Kseniia Petrova has been in ICE custody for about two months. Her colleague and friend Leon Peshkin says her case is causing some scientists to reconsider working in the U.S.

“They walked the full length of the train and questioned every single passenger about their citizenship status. According to the conductor, who has worked nearly 40 years on that route, this was a first. In all his decades of service, federal agents have never boarded his train like this.”

Very creative, San Francisco! 8647 ✊

Nothing!

Personally, I think it should be front page news for at least a month if a sitting US President is using falsified evidence to try and deny due process to a man who has committed no crime, but that’s just me

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

Can we please not forget that ALL the people sent to the El Salvadoran prison deserve due fucking process? ALL of them. Every single one of them.

38 of the 43. "38 of 43 experts cut last month from boards that review science and research in NIH laboratories are female, Black or Hispanic. "The scientists typically serve five-year terms and were not given a reason for their dismissal..." www.washingtonpost.com/science/2025...

Every elected official took an oath to defend the Constitution. This is their moment to put up or shut up.

This is exactly what Democrats should be doing!! You’ve got power and status so leverage it. More of this!!!!

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

This is terrifying in America. ICE agents are showing up masked—these abductions must stop. If you’re going to detain someone, show your face, present a warrant, and proper ID. Disappearing people from their families without evidence or accountability isn’t law enforcement—it’s state-sponsored fear.

The government is ignoring a Supreme Court order to facilitate the return of a man it unlawfully abducted and imprisoned in El Salvador. In the Abrego Garcia case, we’re watching a constitutional crisis unfold in real time. #SCOTUS #AbregoGarcia #LegalCrisis #CourtOrders #ImmigrationLaw

Tomorrow’s going to be a good stress test of the press. El Salvadoran President Bukele will visit the White House. At the press availability, every Q ought to be about Abrego Garcia: where is he now? Did US ask you to return him? etc. WH will hate, maybe try to prevent, so all should band together.

This video shows the fire damage inside the Pennsylvania Governor’s mansion. Governor Shapiro’s reaction to the arson attack is on my timeline.

Can we stop calling these atrocities "deportations." These people sold to El Salvadorian prisons were not deported. Deportation is a process that did not take place. They were rounded up and removed with no process. They were kidnapped, not deported.

MAJOR BREAKING: Senator Elizabeth Warren just told Call to Activism exclusively that she’s calling for a formal investigation into “insider trading” among Trump’s friends: "Did Trump or those with inside knowledge help wealthy investors cash in on his tariff flip-flopping?"

Does the Privacy Act not exist anymore? It is bewildering how many laws which governed basic public sector practices for decades are being ignored.

🚨UPDATE: Rümeysa Öztürk has now suffered three separate asthma attacks while in DHS custody. She has not received her required asthma medications—a violation of her fundamental right to medical care. This is cruelty, it is neglect, and it is a damning moral and legal failure.

NEW: Thousands of CDC employees who worked on things like preventing HIV and lead poisoning have been told they were subject to a reduction in force. Experts say people will die.

the present moment is evidently too serious for comedy, yet too batsh*t to be taken seriously...

All those bozos lied under oath yesterday saying no war plans were shared in that Signal thread. Atlantic first thing this morning: “oh yeah? eat shit.” This is like the most hopeful thing that’s happened since this nightmare started. @theatlantic.com doing me proud. Thank you 🙏🏻🇺🇸👊🙏🏻
