Father of three U.S. Marines…

There's no question the U.S. strikes, which included the powerful 30,000 pound GBU-57s, did a ton of damage. But initial assessments of the attacks, from the US, Israel, IAEA and elsewhere, suggest they weren't destroyed. taskandpurpose.com/news/operati...

seems like saying “are we gonna bomb their nuclear sites? who can say, i dunno” for a week probably gives sufficient notice to move stuff around but what do i know, i’m not running america

Rubio confirms the suspicion that Iran was not constructing a nuclear weapon, the US did not attack based on new intel, and Israel's claim that an Iranian bomb was imminent is BS (though if you parse non-Bibi statements, they say high enrichment, not bomb construction). So I guess there's that.

The Iranian regime knows that the US has very few (maybe < 10) bunker busters left. We can’t mount another attack like this one. We can’t put boots on the ground. Israel cannot do either. Given that, the logical choice would be to accelerate their nuclear program ASAP. Or buy DPRK nukes.

Impeach the motherfucker.

Sumner is one of my favs: On July 4th 1870, Sumner argued Congress should remove the word "white" from naturalization laws, advocating for equal access to citizenship regardless of race. When asked to end the long day of debate, Sumner replied, “It has not been my habit to yield.”

I’m not saying we need more Titan submersibles full of billionaires, but I do think we should popularize how cool It is to pay $1M to see the Titanic in a janky sub…

WSJ reports that the US stockpile had 20 confirmed GBU-57s. If the US dropped 14, as officials reported this morning, that's 70 percent of the US GB-57 stock used up in one go. www.wsj.com/livecoverage...

We have a madman in the White House who is actively trying to trigger total war. If Jeffries, Schumer, or any other Democratic leaders try to justify this, shrug indifferently, or write a strongly-worded letter and call it a day, they need to step down or be aggressively primaried.

Trump's decision to bomb Iran had little to do with intelligence. For years, including when he was last in office, the public U.S. intel assessment has been the same: Iran was not trying to build a nuclear weapon.

C’mon Almighty, you used to be all about the smiting! How about having him vomit worms on national TV or something?

Today's a good time to go through all your heat & power outage prep before the hell hits. If you're at higher risk for heat stroke & need survival stuff you can't afford, drop your wish lists here. đź’ś #MigraineChat #UglyDogs

AOC has bigger cojones than the rest of Congress put together.

Pissant response. The correct response is “I will have articles of impeachment tomorrow and I call upon the military to depose this outlaw regime immediately.” Our leadership is clinging to a ridiculous fantasy or normality. Wake the fuck up!

Correct. When Trump withdrew from the JCPOA in May 2018, he made it the policy of the United States that every country should have an active nuclear weapons program. Today he made it clear they need to develop functional nuclear weapons as soon as possible. Nothing else can prevent a U.S. attack.

Tomorrow is a very good day to impeach a president and his entire cabinet. Today would be good too, but tomorrow will work for me.

There are certainly worse places to be for the start of the Third World War.

Personally I am unfamiliar with any legitimate activity that requires switching license plates, which by the way is illegal.

at least he didn't do something truly reckless like try to forgive student loans

This is not about the merits of Iran’s nuclear program. No president has the authority to bomb another country that does not pose an imminent threat to the US without the approval of Congress. This is an unambiguous impeachable offense.

Iran’s stockpile dropped to 0 after Obama made the Iran Deal… until Trump pulled out of it (against the advice of his own Defense Secretary, General Mattis… because he hated Obama) Feels pretty relevant in this moment.

In 1984 the authoritarian regime keeps the nation in a perpetual state of warfare to give the oppressed people an enemy to hate and a justification for their oppression

you're maybe not paying much attention to state-level stuff because everything is on fire!! let me catch you up. lots of state legislatures have adjourned for the year & here's a roundup of the most important new voting laws that will shape 2026 & beyond: www.democracydocket.com/analysis/red...

Yep: Trump’s interests are not the interests of the United States — This is an essential piece, particularly coming from Kagan was one of the more vociferous boosters of the post 9/11 wars. www.theatlantic.com/internationa...

Michael Pham fled Vietnam at the age of 13. He was named bishop of San Diego a month ago. Today, he stood watch at a courthouse: ICE agents were “standing there covered with masks as we walked toward the courtroom. Eventually the agents scattered and went away” timesofsandiego.com/life/2025/06...

1. Alert, and please share widely. A lawyer at the ACLU has asked me to inform my transgender readers that they should NOT be applying for passports right now - the state department has not issued guidance to comply with the court order and they are urgently trying to get them to do so. 🧵

bell book and candle works. just saying

“He was skeptical about most political & social institutions, not because they weren’t needed but because they were fragile & self-serving. But he was not skeptical about knowledge & expertise, nor about the capacity of ordinary people to transcend circumstances & institutions w/humanity &ingenuity”

Interesting. Polls are showing American voters don’t like the idea of being under military occupation by a wildly angry game show host for no reason www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

NEW: Data shows that as of June 15, fully 30% of all people arrested by ICE and sent to detention had NO CRIMINAL RECORD. 11,763 people in detention as of last Sunday had no criminal record and were arrested inside the country by ICE -- an increase of 4,000 people in two weeks!

honestly this was very predictable if you could a) accurately recall the political consequences of the 2020 protests and b) take public opinion as it actually existed in 2025. impossible difficulty for a non-trivial portion of the professional political commentary class

When you're needing to fill these kinds of quotas, and grabbing and asking questions later, how can it not be profiling? I'm white and speaks fluent unaccented English. Am I going to get grabbed as non citizen? Of course not. Speak w an accent/not white, arrest.

Day by passing day, we are watching what amounts to a national police riot by ICE. But what worries me is that what we are witnessing is not the actions of an agency that believes it will ever be subject to meaningful oversight or legal authority ever again. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/ice-believ...

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

More on this bad decision in the morning but I want to flag something good: They rejected the absolutely wild argument that the President has unreviewable discretion to federalize any national guard, anytime, anywhere.

Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on. slate.com/technology/2...

BREAKING: Iran surrenders after Trump threatens to serve as their president for four months.

What were they actually gonna do here? Ask every brown-enough person for their papers to go to the fucking baseball game? This is the most slam-dunk, anti-American thing I can think of. You need a passport to go to a Major League Baseball game now? Malpractice not to make a huge deal out of this.

Blocklists can be an inexact thing and should be used sparingly, but the fact that I did not have to manually block the Couch Fucker tickles me.
