It is a depressing indictment of modern society that as Palestinians are massacred with American weapons, trans people are criminalized, Black people are pushed out of jobs, immigrants are disappeared, and pregnant people lose bodily autonomy, the question du jour is "but what about white men?"

Over 100,000 people are marching through The Hague against Israel's war on Gaza. Wearing red clothing and forming a line, they are demanding the government draw a red line in its stance against Israel. It's the largest protest in the Netherlands in 20 years.

Two things I know for certain. Trans rights are human rights. What’s happening in Gaza is a genocide.

TIRED: calling your significant other your “partner” (corporate, unsexy, suggests romance is about matching laundry schedules) WIRED: calling your significant other “pardner” (Gold Rush-coded, earns respect in the saloons of Buzzard Gulch, we ride at dawn to capture Blackjack Brett McShane)

Wetland destruction and deforestation have robbed us of many things

A grand time for predatory spiritual and financial scammers to be partnering up. We’ve been here plenty of times in history before, but this moment feels especially primed between financial instability, disdain for truth, religious illiteracy and low accountability for “white collar” hustlers.

Glad to finally get art up on the wall of the basement of our new house and to give the wonderful Devonshire Hall dance scene from Phantom Thread by @briannaduggan.bsky.social a proper home.

My heart, mind, and soul continue to grieve over our slide into nationalized cruelty, a cruelty trying to convince us that it cannot be stopped. We must all play our part, risk things that others are unable to, and be able to say to our ancestors and descendants, "We tried."

Holy crap the new Pope is bringing the fire: “For those who have ears to hear, let them hear: LG TVs call it TrueMotion Roku/TCL calls it Action Smoothing Samsung calls it Auto Motion Plus Sony calls it MotionFlow Panasonic calls it Intelligent Frame Creation…”

Quite a tangible shift in City of Columbus politics tonight.

Ohio State's President is going to be appearing with Trump & Vance at the White House on the same day this is happening. Mind-boggling that OSU's Ted Carter is continuing with that appearance at a time when 11 of his own students have had their visas revoked. A shameful day for OSU.

“Appeasement right now is a disastrous policy… What’s at stake here is freedom. If you give up your freedoms to someone who wants more power, they’re going to take more of your freedom.” -Michael Roth, president of Wesleyan University

We simply had to intentionally destroy the world’s strongest economy while dismantling our scientific and educational infrastructure to ensure that a team with a trans girl would never finish second place in the Mountain West volleyball standings again

“the body of one of the dead had been found with his hands tied”

Let’s strive to amplify trans voices And stories everyday #transgenderdayofvisibility

"to democratize art is not every person having a cute drawing made in seconds, to democratize art is every person having time and health to learn and make art if they chose to, and mainly to have the means to think and relate introspectively with art."

New SUCH GREAT HEIGHTS bonus material: On Take Away Shows, Black Cab Sessions, Daytrotter, and the indie-centric sessions that populated the music-blog content mines

I guess I have to give my monthly reminder that the alternative to fascism is not doomerism or accelerationism. It’s finding and building resiliency and community. The alternative to fascism is embracing our shared humanity and one another not by falling further into the trap of atomization and fear

Got my 4 and 6 year old hooked on the Beastie Boys so my work for 2025 is done.

The Episcopal Diocese of the Rio Grande received a letter from Trump’s DHS today accusing them of human trafficking because they run a shelter for migrants—a shelter paid for, in part, *by* DHS. It is an attack on the freedom of religion, and on the trustworthiness of the govt. youtu.be/7Wl4f0bA4MI

“Go tell that fox”

An unhurried masterpiece whose power is subtly revealed to be the mirroring not only of this moment of capitulation in America, but of the human instincts inherent in many of us across time that aid the fascist project.

A children's author warned that kids won't be able to grow unless they learn different points of view — points of view that she says are being threatened by Republican leadership in Ohio

Thank you Matter News and Hilltop Husband!

I made a little screaming sound out loud

gritty has seized control of the federal government

Serena just showed us all that sometimes you do, in fact, need a little hateration in this dancery

Sharing this from Rt. Rev. Jonathan H. Folts, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of South Dakota. “One of our own priests was targeted at his home—so let no one say, ‘it can’t happen here.’ It can. It has. It is. And rest assured, we will not remain silent or passive in responding.” My heart aches.

This needs saying. Within living memory it was literally illegal to be trans in public. Within living memory queer communities faced a horrific genocide. Within my lifetime anti-queer violence was far, far more widespread. People fought anyway. Do not assume all is lost. We do not have the luxury.

My favorite films of the year. More than any other year my top twelve films (first pic incl. Red Rooms) could be reordered based on my most recent watch, and there are great arguments to be made for each of these to take the top spot. Most all can be streamed.

Seems to me if ICE really wanted to do mass immigration raids they’d go to the factory farms, not urban areas such as Chicago. But mass raids on factory farms would likely put our nation’s food production to a halt, so I guess this is more a fear and optics game.

This matters. Not because I think Trump is capable of mercy or empathy towards these vulnerable groups. But because it is a public act of defiance. Contrast that with all these other powerful people in this country signaling nothing but appeasement and obedience.

i often think about this scene of bobby from twin peaks: the return and i can’t help but think about it now.

I thought we'd be getting weird films made in his living room for years and that anyone needed to make art so badly they could push back death it was Lynch.

I might actually cry. An American genius, who took us by the hand and led us into the grotesque, the terrifying, and the heartbreakingly pure.

The best, and join me in giving to the Palestine Red Crescent Society after you finish crying, laughing and shrieking in joy at the marvelous edits. gofund.me/6250155a

Join me in giving toward the continued work to support both a people and a place undergoing genocide, and those continuing to live under unjust occupation.
