Life in this Don DeLillo novel is getting confusing

You can report possible illegals posing as Trump supporters here

Have I said FUCK ICE enough lately? www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Meredith has always been a G, but it's still exceptionally weird and very refreshing hearing from a tech exec who can see through all of this AI bullshit for what it is at its foundation: a backdoor surveillance tool.

Yes, I agree — it would be terrible. Please do NOT share this information!!!

2/2 A joint statement released by several Western governments, including the United States, on Tuesday, criticized the use of “plainclothed officers in unmarked vehicles,” and expressed concern about the “use of hired ‘goons’ to infiltrate or disrupt peaceful gatherings.”

1/1 Just an interesting bit from a NYT article about protests in Kenya: Protesters and local news outlets reported that people in civilian clothing carrying weapons had accompanied the police as they cracked down on those protests last week.

These two lines from the July "Harper's Index": Percentage of Democrats who believe Republicans are "downright evil": 48 Percentage of Republicans who believe this of Democrats: 53.

Instead of CUTTING Social Security benefits, Congress should INCREASE payments by $200 per month and extend the solvency of the Social Security program by 75 YEARS. How? Make the wealthiest Americans pay a fairer share. I’ve got a bill to get it done.

Unsure how much this will help, but… campaigns.organizefor.org/petitions/re...

The NYT on a proposal to increase the debt limit to $5T.. "An increase of that magnitude would be a record and underscore the ideological flexibility that many Republicans are willing to embrace when they are in power." Where the NYT says "ideological flexibility" don't they really mean hypocrisy?

Just spent a few hours at the Rose City Book and Paper Fair where I ran across this gem; a pristine first edition by @nnedi.bsky.social

I’ve read most of the easy books in my TBR pile, leaving my summer beach reads as “Perhaps the Stars” and “Through the Valley of the Nest of Spiders” Bad planning.

So I’m confused about something. Are we no longer concerned about the dogs and cats that are being eaten by Haitians in Ohio? Fluffy and Fido— Never Forget!

Just finished reading "You Sexy Thing" by @catrambo.bsky.social and couldn't help but picture the way aliens are depicted in the "Saga" graphic novel series. Boy, if anyone ever attempts a graphic novel of "You Say Thing" you really have to get Fiona Staples to illustrate it. Thank me later:)

Those concerned about violence might want to start with violence against immigrants, by ICE here, by illegal deportations to gulags and third countries, the violence against so many federal departments, against the law, the climate, the public lands, waters, civil rights, reproductive rights...

Anyone here remember Kent State and what happened when Nixon sent in the National Guard? There’s a famous photograph, a classic Crosby Stills Nash and Young anthem, and oh, yes, a few dead bodies. The National Guard is not trained for this kind of thing.

On May 2, 2025, the Trump Administration released its FY2026 federal budget proposal. On page 39 he calls for the complete elimination of the only federal agency dedicated solely to supporting America’s libraries and museums. bit.ly/4cXcPFj via @everylibrary.bsky.social
