"Abundance" equates pillaging, I suspect, or will Derek Thompson or Ezra Klein denounce this move (and the other assaults on public lands John Arnold supports and their fellow Abundists praise)? www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

For weeks I've been meaning to flag this episode of one of my favorite pods. It is, I can say without exaggeration, one of the scariest f'ing things I've ever heard. Just listen to the first segment: start at 3:15 or so.

It would be awful for Miller if he had to watch his corruption make other people rich without receiving any personal satisfaction of his own.

NEWS: Stephen Miller owns a six-figure stock in Palantir, a company profiting off deportations, per @POGOwatchdog report migrantinsider.com/p/stephen-mi...

What @danpfeiffer.bsky.social said. open.substack.com/pub/messageb...

OK, here is your one-minute primer on the whole concept of "trickle down economics," from the obituary of Fred Smith, the founder of Fedex. I mean, if you still can't see it, I have no hope for you.

Turns out Democrats have a purity test after all, but is not about LGBTQ-rights, protecting immigrants, or taxing the rich: they close ranks and try to destroy anyone left-of-Corporate-Elite.

China now has 1 terawatt of solar capacity. For reference, the entire US power grid has 1.3TW of capacity.

Not enough people know about Marine Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler. Google him and "the Business Plot" for a fascist shocker.

All dude’s missing now is an endorsement from the Son of Sam

NEW: Sen. Murkowski tells me, on the question of whether she'd consider becoming an ind & caucusing w/ the Dems if they pick up 3 seats in the midterms: "There may be that possibility," and, "There is some openness to exploring something different than the status quo." substack.com/@galendruke/...

Budgets ARE policy. There is no clearer example of Congress choosing to disempower itself than by cutting in half the budget of its own watchdog.

Bowser always on anti-kid side of all issues.

🧵on the D.C. Council's proposed changes to @mayorbowser.bsky.social proposed 2026 budget. First up, @cmfrumin.bsky.social has found $6 million to keep all D.C. Public Library neighborhood branches open 61 hours a week. Bowser had proposed cutting those to 40 a week, citing staffing challenges.

great point. the centrists could have united around somebody other than Cuomo a year ago, but they didn't bother until Mamdami looked likely to win www.eschatonblog.com/2025/06/inco...

Weird. After the election, I distinctly remember several people condescendingly telling me that Chris Wright was a legit serious person who knew what he was doing.

MOST IMPORTANT COLUMN YOU WILL READ THIS MONTH (OR YEAR?): Drop the 1990s tactics. Here’s how Democrats can win today. wapo.st/3G1MNVy (gift link)

A competent political movement and party takes advantage of news hooks. It as hot as hell. Where are the greens and Democrats trying to break through the clutter and insert climate change into the conversation aggressively? Take risks if necessary!

Katie Porter would have never sold California out to the crypto industry and then tried to gaslight his constituents with a bullshit DOA message bill

Come on, man. You just voted for S. 1582 which would legalize Trump's "USD1 stablecoin" crypto corruption. Only reason you'd push this fake fix is because you have such utter contempt for the Dem base that you think they won't realize you've been a good friend to Trump and the crypto barons.

This is physical bravery. This guy is a patriot.

Will the Dem leaders and frontline members be “popularist” (join the large majority in opposition to war) or will they fold in the face of Republican bluster (which would tell us a lot about the role popularism actually plays in Dem politics)? www.offmessage.net/p/18-thought...

In an article on Mahmoud Khalil's release, the NYTimes notes he was detained on the grounds of "a rarely cited law from the mid-20th century." They don't tell you that this law was originally used primarily to deport Eastern European Jews, including Holocaust survivors, as suspected Communists.

NEW: North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey has called for abolishing the Federal Insurance Office. Is it because the data that FIO released makes him look bad?

NEW: Instead of confronting the home insurance crisis with the full force of public data and oversight, state regulators and lawmakers are trying to blindfold the public and hinder the institutions designed to help. They can't hide climate change. But they can foment a financial crisis.

This week the Dem Party leaders/electeds have: - helped MAGA pass a shady crypto bill in the Sen enriching Trump - rallied around an alleged sex pest to be NYC’s mayor - offered milquetoast responses as the regime unleashed an illegal strike in the ME And people wonder why the party’s brand is 💩

We are 10% of the way through Donald Trump's second term of destruction, destabilization, and self-enrichment. Check out Week 22 of our Corruption Calendar newsletter.

The Supreme Court's bias toward corporate interests is persistent, pervasive, and exhaustively documented. But it is still extraordinary to hear a sitting justice bluntly call it out and castigate her colleagues for consistently twisting the rules in favor of big business. slate.com/news-and-pol...

In grim "there's always a tweet" news.

This aged like warm milk

👀🚨 Bombing another country “that does not pose an imminent m threat to the US without the approval of Congress” is “an unambiguous impeachable offense.” - Democratic Rep @casten.house.gov Need other Dems to show the same kind of courage in this moment.

Jesus Christ. He supported the Iraq war in 2003. He supported the intervention in Libya. He bombed Syria as president. He ramped *up* drone strikes. He got into a back-and-forth with Iran over Suleimani's assassination. Enough with this!

“Just want to congratulate everyone who said Trump was the president of peace, didn't start any new wars, etc.” Read @attackerman.bsky.social tonight or first thing tomorrow.

I think this is the right take. From outside of New York, I know it seems NYC is a hotbed of democratic liberalism. But actual New York politics are almost the reverse: the New York Democratic Party leadership is united mainly by trying to keep the left from power.

illegal war started by a man constitutionally ineligible to be president

All Democrats in Congress must condemn this illegal act of war. #Iran

We're so screwed.

“I just find it fascinating that this student can write [a racist] article, a series of [racist] articles that are essentially manifestoes, and that’s free speech,” Ms. Chatman said, “but my class can’t be called ‘Race, Entrepreneurship and Inequality.’”

honestly this was very predictable if you could a) accurately recall the political consequences of the 2020 protests and b) take public opinion as it actually existed in 2025. impossible difficulty for a non-trivial portion of the professional political commentary class

something low key racist about “black people in new york will obviously give a shit about an endorsement from an elderly south carolinian with no connection to the city or its politics”

I am not a lawyer but I cannot think of a single definition of "free market" that would accurately describe the production and distribution of fossil fuels in the United States
