Neil at Glasto 2025

The full version of the Lennon tea-laden coat-removal twirl is worth a watch. Dextrous.

After a week of having Jorge Guillén's statue outside my apartment in Malaga, it is right that I finally get round to reading this collection I bought years ago #CurrentlyReading #JorgeGuillén #Cántico #ASelection

Most of the stories in this collection had a sentence that made me catch my breath and brought stinging tears to my eyes. She really just knows how to get to the heart of a matter.

Stuart Sutcliffe, an original Beatle during their Hamburg days and an incredibly talented artist. Portrait of Astrid Kirchherr #StuartSutcliffe #Beatles #AstridKirchherr

Six o'clock Malaga skies. Waves are rolling. Parakeets are chirping. Pigeons are practicing their backing vocals for Sympathy For The Devil.

We were robbed last night. When it’s our stock or our money that is targeted, there’s insurance and systems in place for this, but when it’s stealing from a charity in an extremely direct way then we just can’t abide it. scottishbooktrust.com/donate @scottishbooktrust.bsky.social

Cat Stevens turns 76 today. One of my more controversial @crooked-marquee.bsky.social retrospectives was on the soundtrack to Harold & Maude.

Watched HUD with my small class seminar today - focused our discussion around James Wong Howe's work in it and of what happens when a murderer's row of sluggers collaborates to tell a simple story. I wept during it at several moments. One of the finest westerns of all time.

They do say: "We hope you like our story Although there isn't one That is to say, there's many That way there is more fun" and "For those who look for meanings In form as they do fact We might tell you one thing But we'd only take it back" ;) A film that contains all its own critiques

Love this Paul McCartney shoot, from 1965 with Jean Shrimpton. Richard Avedon is the photographer. Here's a cool contact sheet from that session. #PaulMcCartney #BOTD

An absolutely high grade professional promotional video made by @peteastor.bsky.social for my exhibition of paintings at Mario’s Cafe 6 Kelly Street NW1 8PH Weds to Sat 8am - 4pm

Excited to receive an unexpected package! Bewildered to find there's absolutely nothing inside.

If you’re looking for a new way to celebrate Macca’s birthday Give My Regards To Broad Street is on YouTube. I’d be pushing it calling it a film in the traditional sense of having a plot or by saying it was great, but I’m very fond of it and it’s full of his music. m.youtube.com/watch?v=dk1a...

I'm still making up my mind about Adam Curtis but I appreciate this thoughtful take. Key thing is, I tend to agree that we shouldn't hold his films to the same standards as, say, an academic paper, or even an in-depth magazine article.

Is Adam Curtis being a tiresome old fraud again? Time for a reading from the Gospel of Woodhams. youtu.be/x1bX3F7uTrg?...

The remastered edition of Behind The Locked Door is out in a couple of weeks. A fine excuse to post George Harrison: the People’s Playlist. Each song here is somebody’s fave George-related track, chosen by a bevy of Bluesky responders. 3+ hours of GH, ’63-‘01. Enjoy. open.spotify.com/playlist/1xv...

I think the Macca tribute album was almost entirely an exercise in missed opportunities. Surely the point of covering songs is to make them your own, not slavishly copy the original arrangements. Then Brian Wilson gave us what sounds like a lost Beach Boys classic. m.youtube.com/watch?v=MYBw...

15 June 1968 John and Yoko planted acorns at Coventry Cathedral for world peace. After the acorns were dug up and stolen, John and Yoko supplied replacements for Coventry but the original acorns turned up years later at Liverpool's Beatle Museum on Mathew Street www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-engl...

Thanks for hosting another great party @johnp69.bsky.social have a great rest of the weekend! #maccamemory07

Nod Your Head is a good rocker and I hate myself for thinking about Black Lace's Superman when he sings "side to side" #maccamemory07

I love that he lays all those big thoughts of mortality on us. And then just has a wee whistle to himself #maccamemory07

I love the idea that Macca has buried a time capsule somewhere with his note 'there are 7 levels' within it #maccamemory07

Paul's voice was still so strong on House Of Wax. Listening to this album now, I'm a bit annoyed with myself for not listening to it more often #maccamemory07

I love all the verys in the lyrics and the line "I know that I'm not a square as long as they're not around" #maccamemory07

Feet In The Clouds is so good. Really compositionally interesting and totally Beach Boys again #maccamemory07

I love That Was Me. His voice is brilliant! #maccamemory07

Love that he's mixing a rockabilly rhythm with all kinds of things into this song #maccamemory07
