I was briefed on the intelligence last week. Iran posed no imminent threat of attack to the United States. Iran was not close to building a deliverable nuclear weapon. The negotiations Israel scuttled with their strikes held the potential for success.

There could be no clearer a statement of the problem at hand. This war needs to be stopped and Netanyahu must no longer be enabled. Only the U.S. can impose diplomacy over war. To avoid catastrophe, that's what needs to happen. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DB8e...

Upon arrival in Mexico, and before even presenting his credentials to the government, the new U.S. ambassador, a former CIA agent and organizer of covert operations in Central America, had dinner with a figure of the Mexican far right, whom he called "my brother". www.sinembargo.mx/4653293/el-u...

Rightfully, the cuts to Medicaid (over 10M people will lose their health care) and the tax cuts for the rich have been the story of the disastrous Republican budget bill. But I read the whole thing. And there are some hidden rats in there you need to know about. 1/ A quick🧵

The majority of Congressional Democrats continue to side with Trump and their Republican colleagues in insisting U.S. arms transfers to Israel's far right government remain unconditional. They can't pretend they don't know what Israel is doing.

Their man in Paris. By a 51-45 vote, with the help of one Democratic Senator who recently conducted an all-night filibuster against the Trump regime, France will soon be receiving Ambassador Charles Kushner, father of Jared, who brings with him an illustrious past. thehill.com/homenews/sen...

Two collaborators of Mexico City mayor Clara Brugada killed in broad daylight today. Too much political violence in Mexico already, but this is the capital! No idea yet of who did this, but it smacks of destabilization. May the gov't of Mexico resist firmly. 🇸🇳 www.jornada.com.mx/noticia/2025...

The Trump coalition unites anti-corporate populists and libertarian futurists — two factions with irreconcilable views. The struggle over AI copyright underscores just how unstable that alliance has become.

NO to U.S. troops in Mexico, despite Trump's "offer". NO is the point of view of the Mexican president and NO should also be the point of view of all U.S. citizens who oppose imperial interventionism. www.reuters.com/world/americ...

Statement from Dr. Noor Abdallah, wife of Mahmoud Khalil and mother of his newborn child. “This was a purposeful decision by ICE to make me, Mahmoud, and our son suffer… My son and I should not be navigating his first days on earth without Mahmoud.”

The biggest wave of refusal since the Lebanon War of 1982, says a leader of the refuser movement founded back then. Over 1/3 of 295,000 reservists have stopped showing up. An anonymous soldier denounced a war "meant to buy political stability with blood." www.972mag.com/israeli-army...

A Palestinian whose family has lived in Jerusalem for generations has no “right to return.” But a 19-year-old American girl who recently got into Torah through TikTok and is converting to Judaism? She gets automatic citizenship—because she’s now part of “the tribe.”

I know many Democrats who, in search of signs of hope, have lionized the good senator from New Jersey and declared him a hero. Sure, he's articulate and certainly sincere about opposing MAGA's sociopathic agenda, but there are other outstanding issues that can't be swept under the rug.

For historian Rashid Khalidi, @columbiauniversity.bsky.social has long been run more as a business empire than as an educational institution and "if it any longer merits the name of a university, it should be called Vichy on the Hudson." Scathing but true. 🇯🇴 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

U.S. Navy warship deployed near the Mexican border, on the #GulfofMexico , supposedly to help with the crackdown on migration. Another act of war from this supposedly war-averse administration, which is bombing Yemen, supporting the breaking of the ceasefire in Gaza, and threatening Iran.

Israel has blocked all humanitarian aid—food, fuel, and medicine—from entering Gaza for 10 days. Qatar and Jordan accuse Israel of aiming to “impose starvation” on Gaza. And Yemen’s Houthis have threatened to resume attacks on Israel-linked ships in the Red Sea if the siege isn’t lifted by today.
