In California, Trump is trying to claim that destruction of private property is the same as a “riot or insurrection,” allowing him to send the national guard in response to protests where no law enforcement have been seriously injured.

This is beautifully written. This is the last flicker of the light of freedom in the United States, before Trump’s personal Supreme Court approves of him sending the national guard to occupy a state in direct opposition to the constitution and the rights of states.

U.S. tax dollars will be spent appealing to the Circuit, then the Supreme Court. The SC will issue an expedited stay, allowing Trump to illegally ignore the sovereignty of a state and invade with armed troops. And pundits will debate what this will mean for democracy. Our democracy is being killed.

Trump’s administration is looking for a Reichstag fire to justify increasing police presence. Either L.A., or Cleveland, or other “dangerous” cities. Any opportunity to escalate government authority over the people and Democrat controlled cities. This is by design. This is what authoritarians do.
