When asked if the United States should have a military parade to show off its might, President Eisenhower responded: “Absolutely not. We are the pre-eminent power on Earth. For us to try and imitate what the Soviets are doing in Red Square would make us look weak.”

Pass it on…

So Rubio is saying he's overhauling the State Department because it is “beholden to radical political ideology.” You mean radical ideology like DEMOCRACY?

This Yale grad cheers Harvard for not caving to Trump's demands!! Boola Boola! 💙

NYC, it’s time to take to the streets again. We’re joining over 40 cosponsors to protest authoritarianism, and march for a planet where we place people over profit. 📅 Saturday, April 19 ⏰ 12pm 📍 Bryant Park We’ll see you in the streets.

A non-political post: when you're active with young people/students, never underestimate the importance of simply showing up. 💙 #YUJC

This takes on new poignancy these days: "Let America be America again. Let it be the dream it used to be. Let it be the pioneer on the plain Seeking a home where he himself is free. (America never was America to me.)" - from the Langston Hughes papers held at Yale Univ's Beinecke Library

I signed. I hope you will, too.

Subscribed to @theatlantic.com today, print and online. A win/win-- it is a way to say "Thank you" to them for their great work this week, but I get a subscription I've been meaning to get.

Yes, I, too, am an ally.

Tyranny requires your fear, your silence, and your compliance. Democracy requires your courage.

James Madison called it: "Men of factious tempers, of local prejudices, or of sinister designs, may, by intrigue, by corruption, or by other means, 1st obtain the suffrages, & then betray the interests, of the people."-- Federalist Papers No. 10.

Because, when the world is going crazy, music heals. The remarkable Akua Dixon with the Harlem Chamber Players at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, #NYC

Just did this and encourage you to do it, too.

Friends had a variation of "the talk" with their 15-y-o son. Dominican-Americans, parents and kids all born here, they realized that with their son's coloring and features, he could easily be mistaken for Mexican. They've talked with him about how to handle himself if stopped by ICE agents. Insane.

So FOTUS comes to the Super Bowl declaring that the Chiefs are going to win. For the first half, KC scores zip, nothing. Trump gets up and leaves at the half, and the Chiefs come alive and score 22 points *after* he's gone. Coincidence? @chiefs.bsky.social @philadelphiaeagles.bsky.social

Tonight I am going to be cheering for your team, @mcbridesworld.bsky.social, you know, the "other" Pennsylvania team, the Eagles.
