This is not a statement for or against, but it's quite hard to imagine an opt in identity system that doesn't become practically necessary to use over time

I've started work on logging performance data for station lifts as part of lifts.matteason.co.uk I'm logging the status of almost every National Rail lift every 10 minutes. This is a super early proof of concept - the graph shows each lift's status every 10 mins for the past 24 hours
