Thomas Piketty's ideas need further promotion. Inequality gets worse when growth in GDP exceeds growth in labor income. And it's just a political choice about how much you tax the wealthy. Either you tax the wealthy or you issue debt and borrow from them. We choose to make the world more unequal.

Maybe this idea that we're all liberal individual nodes with rights and freedom was just a flash in the historical-material pan between the Renaissance and whatever techno-slave state is coming next? This is how I think now. Humans are 99% contingency and we fetishize that 1% of bounded freedom.
