There's not a single shot in 'The Natural'' that couldn't have been a Norman Rockwell painting

I absolutely cannot wait for July 11, when some start posting that a character created by Jewish refugees whose families sent them to America from their exploding homelands, who was given dark hair, semitic features, *and* Hitler's preferred name for his Aryan ubermensch, has become woke

'Better Man' has no business working in the first place, let alone being legitimately great, but here we are and now we all have to deal with it

Glad to see the Dodgers haven't entirely lost their Brooklyn

NEW: The Los Angeles Dodgers say they have denied entry to ICE agents who arrived at the stadium and "requested permission to access the parking lots."

When you find out someone who once royally pissed you off is semi-involved in the project you're working on so you go through your socials to check that you never vented about it

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

This sounds like a bit but I’m being serious: kids using chat gpt for their homework are denying themselves the invaluable experience of learning how to bullshit their way through a problem. You drink some caffeine the night before and figure it the fuck out. That’s a skill. You need it in life.

I haven't done the research but I'm willing to bet Nicole Scherzinger is the first person to win a Tony award after having one of her bands' songs included in a Weird Al polka

AG Pat Bondi assures an anxious nation that no Teslas were hurt in the assassinations.

We just showed our oldest 'The Natural' ', and I must say.... I question the quality of the electrical work done on the grandstand lights at Knights Field. (The movie is still glorious and one of the most beautifully filmed of all time)

Just a heads up, the scammers are working hard to get money from you. If you get a call from any law enforcement agency saying you have a warrant for any reason its false. This wouldn't ever happen, you would get something in the mail or a deputy at the door. Don't fall for it. I

When the exec's notes appear to have come out of ChatGPT, but they're complimentary

One of the best things about Andor, and it's probably Beau Willimon's influence, is how smart it is about how hard it is to get leftist organizations speaking the same language, let alone on the same page

"It doesn't make me want to eat paint," is the highest compliment I'll ever give my own writing

The enemy of my enemy is still my enemy but I still like seeing them fight

No two of the stormtroopers that we've seen pictured since January are wearing the same type of "uniform" It's all mix and match We're gonna find out that these guys are all deputized thugs

There are things I miss about Twitter, like the thrill of posting something mildly clever and getting 6 likes and one death threat.

So glad I'm not on Doctor Who Twitter tonight

Musk should be asked about this in every interview he does now and forever. To ignore it is a dereliction of duty. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/o...

In other news, Robert DeNiro urges Lorraine Bracco to keep walking down that alley

I know the world is in chaos and I know I'm late to this party in general but the first episode of 'Pokerface' is a perfect pilot

Protip: when your college student is home and you're planning on making a particular dinner do not assume you have ANYTHING in your refrigerator. Don't even assume you have a refrigerator.

Did we not… already solve rockets? Like I know taking a government job and doing it worse is the brand, but why?

Too many of my white friends are still doing risk analysis, still weighing the costs of expressing their new revelations, still concerned about what they will lose by speaking out. The reality is, the risks and consequences of silence are far greater. johnpavlovitz.substack.com/p/white-frie...

Severe cuts to the National Weather Service led to the Jackson NWS going without a full-time overnight forecasters. Warnings for the 3 AM tornado that claimed at least 18 lives were delayed as a result. DOGE is killing Americans. It needs to be stopped. Science needs protection. MAGA needs a cage

The passing of the great Joe Don Baker is an excellent reason to revisit what is, for my money, one the ten most beautifully filmed movies in the history of cinema: Barry Levinson's 'The Natural', cinematography by Caleb Deschanel

SCOOP: Since SSA installed new anti-fraud checks on claims made over the phone, only 2 claims out of over 110,000 were found to likely be fraudulent, according to internal documents I obtained. The policy has slowed down payments, though. Retirement claim processing is down 25%

BREAKING: The Supreme Court ruled courts must assess the full context of a police encounter when determining what constitutes excessive force — not just the moments right before the lethal force. Over 1,300 people were killed by police last year. This ruling will help hold the police accountable.

I was afraid The Blues Brothers hadn't aged well but it's two hours of fucking with cops, rich people, Nazis, and rednecks, 10/10 no notes

As a teacher, I can’t accept gifts worth more than $50 in case I were to treat that student more favorably as a result. We should hold the same standards for our President.
