🧵The escalating crisis between Israel and Iran is gravely concerning.

Not unexpected, but still... "Every 1 degree Celsius the world warms above pre-industrial levels will drag down global food production by an average of 120 calories per person per day" www.cnn.com/2025/06/18/c...

We can assume this warning will be ignored and the world is not going to manage to restrict the global average temperature from breaching +1.5C due to human emissions and nature destruction. Donald Trump is a key figure causing global disaster. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

At PMQs today as they introduce their callous ÂŁ5 billion Benefit Cuts Bill. This will impact some 1.3 million people and push 250 000 more people into poverty. This is a Labour Government. Yes, a LABOUR Government.

So Starmer will remove PIP from up to 800,000 people while DWP’s own impact assessment, published earlier this year, estimated the reforms would see an additional 250,000 people – including 50,000 children – pushed into relative poverty. But no wealth tax proposals which could have funded it.

Moving fast and breaking things didn't work well in Iraq in 2003 and won't work any better in Iran in 2025. The UK must not get dragged into supporting an illegal war.

I asked David Lammy a direct question. His response did little to reassure me. I've written to him demanding clarity and have asked him to guarantee that any further potential military involvement in the Middle East will be subject to a free vote in Parliament.

I have just asked Angela Rayner to commit to Free Vote before any further UK military support to Israel. There is strong consensus across the House to prioritise de-escalation & diplomacy in the rapidly escalating conflict between Israel and Iran.

Cutting PIP will do nothing to help people into work, when so many rely on this support to stay employed. Slashing carers allowance will hurt those selflessly looking after loved ones and taking pressure off our NHS.

Labour: - We found ÂŁ16 billion for housing - We're pouring tens of billions into Sizewell C - We greenlit umpteen billion more for the HS2 black hole etc. etc. Also Labour: - No, we're still dead set on hurting vulnerable people and people with disabilities to save a few billion. Full steam ahead.

Angela Rayner says that Labour MPs who rebel against the Welfare Bill will lose the whip There are 403 Labour MPs Any Labour MP who votes for withdrawing PIP support from the disabled as outlined in this welfare bill is an absolute disgrace

There are many contenders for what will be this Labour Government’s Poll Tax but this Bill is going to do so much harm it ought to suffer the same fate. #TakingThePIP

The “welfare reform bill” is out and let’s be clear: this is not reform - it is devastating cuts. Disabled people will be made poorer, sicker, and more isolated as a result. That it is a Labour government causing this misery will be a mark of shame on the party for years to come.

Iran: Weeks away from having nuclear weapons since 1995

It makes me feel proud to see Ellie making this vital debate happen in Parliament Calling out the government in its failure to live up to its duty to prevent genocide She has spent a lifetime defending the vulnerable

Thanks Zoe - you’re right, this is a moment to act urgently and wisely. Ellie and I have never been about incremental growth. We’re proud of the exponential gains in Lewes District and beyond. #TogetherWeWin

Having a bit of a hard time with the concept that if a guy in a police uniform who has a police vehicle shows up I should lock the doors and call 911, but if a guy in a ski mask with an hGH gut appears to be kidnapping my neighbor, I shouldn’t ask who he is if I don’t want federal charges.

For years, I’ve worked to turn the Greens into a serious political force. Last year’s breakthrough - three more MPs - didn’t happen by chance. It was the result of vision, graft, strategy - and a huge team! 🟢 www.ellie-adrian-2025.org/news #TogetherWeWin

"We believe the Green party can... take on Reform & win. Not by aping the divisive “populist” rhetoric of Farage, but by connecting with the broadest possible range of people & showing Green policies embody their aspirations for a fairer country & livable future. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

"Our values correspond with deep wellsprings of compassion & solidarity among people in every community... That’s why we know we can grow the party even faster." @elliechowns.bsky.social on why she's running for the Green leadership with @adrianramsay.bsky.social. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Maybe if the UK government read this piece regarding Palantir and the words of its CEO they would back away from allowing this company access to our NHS!!!!

We watched in horror as the Israel-Iran conflict escalated over the weekend. With the essential need to focus on de-escalation at this fragile time, I asked the Foreign Secretary to rule out further military support for the Israeli government.

Winning under first-past-the-post isn’t easy — but we’ve done it, repeatedly. Ellie and I know what it takes because we’ve been part of building it, step by step. This campaign is about building on that success — and growing it. 🟢 www.ellie-adrian-2025.org/news #TogetherWeWin

Benefits reform must be pushed through, says UK PM. NO. Disability benefit cuts, two child benefit cap are cruel. Don't scapegoat the poor. How about cutting corporate welfare, profiteering? Decent pay reduces demand for benefits - 37% of universal credit claimants are in work.

Petition to expel Israel's ambassador reaches 184,000 signatories www.change.org/p/expel-the-...

It may siphon off a few votes from urban leftist malcontents, but Labour need not fear a Polanski-led Green Party.

Nice to see humorous leadership advice to Ellie from Ed Milliband!

The escalation between Iran and Israel is a tragic & entirely predictable consequence of Israel’s attacks on Friday. UK govt must make clear it will have no part in this aggression and explicitly rule out any military support for Israel.

Wow, what an inspiring day! The biggest ever Green Party action day. Brilliant to be building on the huge successes we've had in Suffolk and Norfolk and to be ready for the next big elections to come. Thanks so much to everyone who was part of it

Today in Boston. Over a million people turned out. Even the drone couldn't get it all. #NoKingsDay #BostonStrong #ICEProtest
