Imagine spending your whole life cos-playing and fantasizing about fighting the federal government sending troops in against its own citizens only to root for the government when the moment finally arrives

Just left downtown LA after the curfew was called. The film screening I was at canceled. People told to get home safely. Bartender allowed us to stay to finish our drinks. "It's the new gestapo," he said. #LosAngeles

unlike Vietnam or Afghanistan at least the Marines coming to.L.A. know exactly what this fight is all about

thinking about how the last bit of Democratic messaging before this moment was “TACO Trump”

If you are not getting dunked on by the nazis at the nazi site, you *are* one of the nazis at the nazi site.

BREAKING: ICE is preparing to deploy tactical units to five cities run by Democratic leaders, according to two sources familiar with the planning of future ICE operations.

I have a #blog on Ghost. This is where I talk about #comics and #movies and #tv shows. It's also where I post my genre #fiction #writing, both short stories and my #WIP #novel. And you can even subscribe for updates for free! Or pay me, if you want... 📽️ 📺 #Filmsky #ComicSky #WritingCommunity

I’m posting the first 3 chapters of my #WIP this weekend, but before that, here’s a primer detailing what the story is about, and where this post-apocalyptic sci-fi/fantasy superhero adventure comes from. Check it out! Subscribe to get the first 3 chapters! #Writing #ComicsSky #WritingCommunity

I watched Omni Loop. 📽️ #Filmsky

she stayed on point and stood on business.

The story that ran yesterday about Trump pressuring Texas Republicans to gerrymander their districts before the midterms is the best sign you’re going to get that they are still planning under the assumption that elections are going to matter moving forward.

ngl this map of scheduled protests for this weekend is *wild*

I couldn't NOT do this.

O Portland, I love the vibe of your ICE protests. (From Keep Portland Weird).

It's the perfect storm of American stupidity and sheepdom that the Republicans have dreamed of. They can create an emergency to justify killing citizens out of thin air and justify it all after the fact and the Americans who voted for will believe it all. Again white people can stop this at any time

frankly if it frightens you to see waymos burning in the streets then you are simply a candy assed milk fed wuss

it's really clear that these pundits trying to guilt us into coming back to Twitter are secretly convinced that if we subject ourselves to *enough* brain-dead posts by SlursAILinkedIn, we'll eventually have a magical conversion moment, realize the error of our ways, and become a Republican

Something worth noting is how the press is leaning into the framing that what’s happening in LA is a both sides issue or that they are riots. Even when the LAPD is saying it’s under control, suddenly for the first time in their lives the press is willing to ignore them

We should never let ourselves get desensitized to this. It can’t be overstated how outrageously unpresidential and un-American it is for Donald Trump to speak to the US military like they’re his partisan personal army.

I sometimes see terminally online leftists mocking Greta, alongside the right-wing, but the bottom line is she's a more effective activist than most of them could ever dream to be.

Sounds about white

PSA that Eli Roth does not deserve your support, horror fans.

"Snyder’s fans announced that they plan to boycott the movie by watching it only three times and dedicating a mere five months to creating YouTube videos about it."

“Well, I have to man the guard tower at Auschwitz because my paycheck” wears thin at some point.

Meaning people will have to leave behind their "Vote Blue No Matter Who" and actually pressure on policy!

Absolute fucking 🔥. "Over eight hours...people throwing back tear gas...throwing anything that they could to defend themselves...Border Patrol retreated. “And the hundreds of workers in the factories were able to escape. If any community was going to fight back without apology, it was this one."

Stephen Miller may represent everything that is vile about this administration, but lets not pretend that he's not as common as the sunrise in white America. He rose to prominence simply because he's willing to say the shit out loud that most of them only say with knowing looks when they're alone.

More people should be talking about the utter freak that is Stephen Miller and his white nationalist worldview. He's the architect behind most of this chaos as Trump is golfing, falling asleep during meetings, making money of memecoins and tripping while climbing stairs.

Same as it ever was... They got money for wars but can't feed the poor.

I know it's super inconvenient for everyone trying to go to work and get the kids into summer camps and all that, but the White House is literally trying to start a civil war

The reason Trump is always sitting down in these things now is because he’s a weak old man. It’s even sadder when you realize that he’s excited about a parade like a five year old is upon seeing fire trucks.

I've said it before: the constitution of the United States of America is fundamentally a gentleman's agreement, and all the gentlemen are dead

Posting this 1967 Birmingham News editorial cartoon for all the people who don't realize that this is how MLK was viewed by a big chunk of white America.

Luke and Leia by Chris Mooneyham

Honestly, this kind of shit is probably relatively easy to coordinate when the message is something your average White Americans regularly say whenever they're with their white friends and family, because all I see here is the White America I grew up with being honest about who they've always been.

I spent so many years covering propaganda anticipating this exact moment and so many of my peers bought the paid-for contrarian line that even covering disinformation was somehow, itself, censorship. Now we're at the event horizon. Celebration is protest is riot is justification for a police state.

Just a gaggle of dipshits standing around talking shit. Our failure is that they're in the White House, instead of where they belong, clinging to the far end of the bar down at the local VFW at about quarter to seven on a Two-for-Tuesday Miller High Life night.

"A society can't allow EVERYBODY to have free speech!" is a helluva take.

"who was president in 2020" remains the most difficult question in the world for a sizable chunk of americans, professional commentators included

This is the White America that I grew up with finally just saying the shit out loud and in public and without code words that they used to only say amongst themselves. This is the White America I grew up with, all those "good" people, finally just being honest about who they have always been.

People aren’t afraid of cities. They go to cities all the time for concerts, to go shopping, to go to the fancy restaurant. When people say they are afraid of cities what they mean is they are afraid of groups of Black people.

This is how I've always treated it, being afraid of "cities" is a sign of weakness.

Because the GOP refused to follow through and actually give them the white supremacy they offered like the Italians and Irish received.
