Wanna thank all of you for hanging with me all season, No. 21 on this beat. This was a fascinating one to cover from start to finish, and I only get to do it because of all the engagement you provide. Never take it for granted. Cheers, all.

The Timberwolves' Game 5 meltdown threatens to tear at the fabric of an otherwise memorable season. A team known for resilience faltered when toughness was most needed. www.nytimes.com/athletic/638...

I've seen some awful Wolves basketball in the last 21 years. That half was right up there near the top.

Nightmare start for Julius Randle.

Finch furious that Ant gets that call and not the one at the rim.

Man has Naz been rough

Wolves are 1-10 to start. Real danger here.

OK, here we go. Rudy Gobert said this morning the Wolves always play better "in survival mode." We're about to find out.

Both Mike Conley and Rudy Gobert were very complimentary on Anthony Edwards' offensive approach in 4. Rudy: "A lot of people think basketball is just about scoring 30 every night. It's just not true." Said he was proud of Ant for the way he attacked.

The Timberwolves have put 269 points on the board against a generational defense over the last two games. That's high, high level stuff. The defense and turnovers are what killed them last night.

OKC 128, MIN 126. Just a hell of a fight. In the end, too many turnovers and too many offensive rebounds allowed for the Wolves to overcome some absurd shotmaking from SGA and Jalen Williams. Wolves now on the brink of elimination.

OKC has taken 19 more shots thanks to 19 TOs by the Wolves and 16 offensive rebounds by the Thunder. That's the difference.

Three straight turnovers for the Wolves. Just killer.

What a response from the Wolves, and two streaky shooters: NAW and DDV.

Daigneault again starting third small with Caruso for Hartenstein.

Edwards and Randle have shot the ball 4 times combined. McDaniels, NAW and Shannon with game-saving offense so far.

The Thunder have taken 11 more shots than the Wolves, negating a scorching 65% FG for Minnesota.

Zone doesn't work.

It is an absolute war out there.

Wolves lucky to be down only 7 after turning it over 7 times and getting crushed on the offensive glass. Randle was shaky in that first quarter. 2 points, 3 TOs. Edwards only had one shot. OKC brought it's A defense. Wolves have to settle down and respond.

Thunder are 3-6 from deep early. Shooting only 32 percent in the playoffs. Wolves will continue to test them. But that's a good start for OKC.

A lot of juice in the building. Let's go.

It had to be this way. A narrow victory at home was not going to be enough. To get back into the thick of these West Finals, the Timberwolves needed a blowout win. And they got it and then some, writes @jonkrawczynski.bsky.social. www.nytimes.com/athletic/638...

This place is gonna explode when Dillingham does something slick.

Gulp.

A crucial first four minutes here against OKC, which is a monster in the 3rd quarter.

It's a 31-point lead at the half for the Wolves. Edwards, Reid, Randle, Shannon, they all brought it. And I'm sure there's not one of them comfortable yet.

Third foul on Naz.

A reminder that Shannon is older than Ant. He's a grown man, and playing like one.

Just terrible.

One thing the Wolves failed to do in the first two games is capitalize when the Thunder were off their game. They allowed OKC to keep it too close. This time, the Wolves lead by 20. The lead can't get big enough.

Rudy rips SGA on the perimeter. Wow.

Well well well ... DDV splashes from the corner. What a difference that makes.

Nervous energy has turned into incredible volume here early. One of the loudest crowds I've heard in this building, and that's saying something.

Nervous energy in here tonight. Fully expected given how the first two games went. Now or never.

The orange band on Anthony Edwards’ wrist has become a symbol of hope in these parts. It buoyed a team that was down in the dumps. It boosted a little boy with leukemia. On the ties that bind, in Minnesota and beyond … www.nytimes.com/athletic/633...

If the Timberwolves are gonna have a prayer against the Thunder, their stars will have to carry the day. Julius Randle’s first clunker came at an inopportune time, and now the Wolves are in trouble. www.nytimes.com/athletic/637...

Wolves were 2-15 from 3 in the second half. The shooting has been just a disaster in these first two games.

Randle is hollering at the officials in this timeout. Perhaps upset at no call under the basket on his rebound? Wolves again in danger of letting this game slip away here in the third.

Wolves had 0 fastbreak points in Game 1. Up to 7 now after that Jaden run-out.

2-point shots: OKC 18-22 MIN 11-24 Big difference in the game.

5-0 run at the end of the quarter here by OKC. It's the little things that add up in games like this.

Ant already has as many FGAs as he had the entirety of Game 1. Wolves desperately need this aggression with Randle struggling (1-5)

Don't see how this could be a hostile act on Randle.

Thunder shot 50% from the field, but 1-8 from 3, which kept the Wolves in it. No TOs for OKC. Wolves have to ramp up the defense.

Ant looks a little flustered. Forcing some jumpers early in the clock when he has a little space against OKC's defenders. He's got three assists, though. Wolves teammates just have to reward his faith when he gets them open shots.
