I guess you could say the people who thought Andrew Cuomo ran a better campaign than Zohran Mamdani were sequestered in echo chambers and out of touch with what people offline wanted out of a candidate

if #Cuomo runs again, we'll beat him again.

I'm gonna post a new one of these beautiful posters a student artist made every few hours until we turn out all of NYC on Thursday. Let's take back our universities!

In honor of the Gatsby centenary, re-sharing this little piece I wrote for the Village Voice last year, a review of two #Gatsby productions that created an opportunity to muse on the novel's legacy a wee bit. #GreatGatsby @fscottfitzgerald.bsky.social www.villagevoice.com/the-great-ga...

So Andrew Cuomo is Wilson Fisk?

Posting awful things that Mahmoud Khalil has said is falling right into the trap laid by the fascists. They purposely picked a vexatious figure so that people would sow ambivalence and dilute the discussion. The point we all need to be focused on is that Khalil has oppositional positions (1/2)

This isn't right. Should be walking, not driving.

Andrew #Cuomo was a failure as director of HUD in the 1990s. www.nytimes.com/2006/11/02/n...

All of my students of color and gender-nonconforming students, all of my students with marginalized identities, are getting an A this semester. For the next four years.

In 1925, Joyce's only play, "Exiles," had its English-language debut, right here in NYC. To celebrate this centenary, we have commissioned Elevator Repair Sevice lately of "Gatz" and a bravura adaptation of "Ulysses," for a staged reading of the play on 3/17. www.joycesociety.org for details.

Dear University that Employs Me: There is 0% chance I will put your new text messaging and phone call app on my phone. This could get totally normalized over the next few years, and I still will not do it. Unless you buy me a phone and pay for my service.

Nerdiness alert. The Elgar Concise Encyclopedia of Law and Literature, ed. Spoo and Stern, featuring a mini essay by me. Screenshot to give you a taste of the table of contents. Nothing really concise about it. Order your copy today. www.elgaronline.com/display/book...

I've built a machine that can be Confidently Wrong. It can also make pictures that all look a bit the same, as well as make a video of you kissing any celebrity or person you know. In payment, I'd like to boil the world's oceans dry, & steal all literature. For some reason, my head is not on a spike

For those of you who have been waiting, we have our full announcement of our 2-session (Feb. 11 and 18) "Exiles" reading group ready. The sessions will be led by Marian Eide and Michelle Witen, respectively. joycesociety.com/readinggroups

For the #VillageVoice I wrote a review-essay on two recent stage adaptations of "The Great Gatsby" that turned into a bit of a rumination on the 100th anniversary of the novel. www.villagevoice.com/the-great-ga...

There are a lot of ways to find music you love.

I understand there's a new yacht rock documentary and I'm wondering if they include this rare footage.

Pretending that having a 1-2% false positive rate is a horror. That means that 99 out of 100 students were, in fact, cheating. But lets focus on the exception that proves the rule instead... www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...

in other "look at where this guy comes from" news, Elon Musk's father just did a lengthy podcast episode that opens with the host saying "I bet the last time you had this many black people in your house someone was trying to rob you" youtu.be/KH1U5x8LXgs?...
