We are halfway through the working year. There are 130 working days left in 2025. If you write just one page a work day, you can have a complete script by New Years. If you write just two pages a day, you can write two scripts or one novel. Just three pages a day, get out of here, you're COOKING!

This is great campaign messaging. No wonder the establishment is so shook.

LA brethren, read this.

Clinton is a goddamn nightmare but the fact that former presidents (and other prominent former Dem politicians) ROUTINELY stay quiet on absolute horrors being done by the administration because of decorum but will pop up to shut down progressives really gives up the whole game.

Are we creating today? Are we writing today? I'm thinking there's fire and beauty in you that you can put into the world. It's time for the artists. Let's get started.

With every headline it becomes more clear: Dark times are getting darker. Wherever you can, lean into the good things. Focus on the helpers and helping. Do what you can. Do away with what you can't. Take breaks. Hydrate. Sleep. Revel in joy. Seek out light and torchbearers. Fight. Repeat.

this is a terrific LA-based mutual aid group and I have donated to them in the past.

Margaret Brennan is fundamentally wrong on the claim that public approval of mass deportations is "so high." It has never been above 60%, and has been below 50% in multiple recent polls. There is no world in which that counts as "so high."

the story today is of a profoundly low energy military parade being met with millions of americans in nationwide protests denouncing the dictatorial pretensions of the president

Los Angeles. Just wow.

Especially if you're on the fence about it, protest today. Fascism is isolating and lonely. Its very goal is to make you feel like you're the only person unwilling to accept a cult of personality. On days like today you fully realize there are more of us than there are them. You will feel better.

1999. Tom Hanks was next to me at the Coffee Bean in BH. I'd just moved to LA, I hadn't assumed the "too cool to notice" pose around celebrs. I saw him and was like, "Holy shit, you're Tom Hanks." Without missing a beat, he pointed to me and said "Holy shit, you're the guy from the Coffee Bean!"

I just called and did the same thing. let's go!

God, I love her.

We stand with our union brother #DavidHuerta and with unions across the country in condemning this violation.

It is 100% carrying water for the opposition to participate in this collective delusion that Dems for some reason need to answer for every teen who throws a rock rather than hold the Trump admin accountable for intentionally creating chaos and breaking the law to stoke violence. They are in charge.

Newsom is doing what almost every Democrat in the country is afraid to do right now and he is going to reap all the rewards if they don’t hurry. As a California voter intimately familiar with Newsom’s actual policy bonafides, I am loudly imploring someone else to do that hurrying.

Gavin Newsom just gave a strong speech laying out the stakes for democracy in blunt language that too few powerful Democrats have been willing to use. I know the huge problems with him. But at this awful moment, playing the "Sorry, he's dead to me" game with Democrats seems an unaffordable luxury.

There are THOUSANDS of protests planned for June 14th all over the country to send a message to Donald Trump that no one wants his birthday military parade in DC that will cost taxpayers millions. #NoKingsProtest You can find a location here: www.nokings.org#map

Fuck Anderson Cooper, Jake Tapper, Abby Phlillps, and the lot of them on CNN. They're haircuts cosplaying as journalists, concerned only with their profile and their paycheck. They're feckless and weak, & act like little bitches when you call them on it.

Remember this image every time someone tells you that protesters are "hurting their cause." Those people are the red bars. In 40 years, we'll look back at them the same way.

There’s more chaos during your average championship-starved city’s sports championship celebration than there is in LA right now even with this utterly absurd militarized government presence. This administration is an absolute farce.

For those who live elsewhere, this is the heart of downtown #LosAngeles. My friends are here. My union is here (sup @wgawest.bsky.social). My teenager is here. People are passing out pastries & singing & praying. All we want is for our neighbors not to be kidnapped off the streets.

Everyone should be following J.W., but especially during times like these.

“What happened to me is not about me; This is about something much bigger,” @seiuca.bsky.social President David Huerta said. “This is about how we as a community stand together and resist the injustice that’s happening.”

The relevance of this quote from almost 20 years ago, played as warning and cautionary tale (on one of the best TV shows most of you probably never saw) has felt more and more relevant these last few years and today more than ever. So say we all. #iykyk

When the media let Trump set the narrative that Black Lives Matter protests were violent riots, they paved the way for the moves he’s making today. Let’s be clear. There is no unrest in Los Angeles. There is only government provocation.

California National Guard troops have arrived at the federal detention center in downtown Los Angeles. This is pure theater. It will never stop Angelenos from protesting ICE kidnappings occurring throughout the vast, 4,000-square mile area of Greater Los Angeles.

Here are some texts I got from an immigration lawyer friend of mine. Shared with permission. Some of the bleakest shit I’ve ever heard.

BREAKING: please, everyone, turn on local news. there is NOTHING going on in LA. Its over, the protest broke up hours ago. Local news helicopters are trolling for trouble and there's none. Just some LAPD/LASD road blocks. If they 'send the Guard' now, its just because they really really want to.

We refuse to stay silent while ICE terrorizes working class communities. We are turning out and standing united in solidarity with @seiuca.bsky.social calling on the release of SEIU President David Huerta!
