Just occurred to me that Shy Ronnie is Michigan J. Frog youtu.be/nX4vzKH4les?...

Need a break from world events.. watching the Being Led Zeppelin doc on Netflix.. good reminder why I was obsessed with this band when I was 15!!!

What Noem and others at DHS call political theater, EE Schattschneider calls the intensity, visibility, direction, and scope of conflict. It is time for some Schattschneider.

So ppl saying the Padilla's move was "a stunt"? Good.. more stunts please... drawing attention to wrongdoing is politics.

Come see me present a new (and early) version of a paper I’ve co-authored with Phil Napoli “Why media companies now insist they *are* media companies, and why that matters.” It’s an update of our 2017 piece that explores how platforms have shifted their rhetorical position in legal arguments.

This is a time to ask, and answer, some fundamental questions: What does it mean to be an American? What's our country for? I have jotted some notes, drawing heavily on Gerald Ford, and his Bicentennial words. See what you think. www.jaynordlinger.com/p/to-be-an-a...

Dario Amodei is on to something here... if 50 percent of white collar jobs are replaced by AI, lots of ppl are going to have to find meaning outside of formal work. Means a return to "local work" done to benefit the community (e.g. grow food for your neighbors)? www.youtube.com/watch?v=zju5...

I don't get the $2 comment, but this guy intuitively knows where the pressure points are in the political system... the high speed rail in CA has been an embarrassment that embodies every critique ppl have about the bureaucratic inefficiency of public projects...

Who asked for packages to be delivered by humanoid robots driven by atonomous vehicles?? Amazon says it will be doing this en masse by the end of the decade.... could be hype, but... youtube.com/shorts/b7UXm...

Impressive if true.  This Helix robot flips over packages of various sizes to find the barcode.... not sure how financially/computationally expensive this model is but if robots like this can be "scaled up," we should prepare of a world of mass unemployment....  www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJl8...

This is wild... 18 LLM's playing a version of "Diplomacy" (which apparently Gemini 2.5 won).  Once commenter makes the good observation that because AI's don't have memory persistence, "betrayal" behavior is rewarded at a higher rate than it otherwise might...  www.reddit.com/r/singularit...

Odds that Elon is trying to win back Tesla market share and increase X users? Will the streets forget?

In hope he runs for president.... He strikes me as a good man.

Another issue this brings up is how tactics like this influence candidate recruitment. If people who are interested in politics get the message that politics is about triangulation, why ever run for office?

Fascinating interview: "Fundamentally, I think businesses and countries and governments should really always be asking themselves what are the futures that are being built with these technologies, and are these the futures that our populations want to live in."

Other than a handful of high profile cases, I'm skeptical that many US scientists are moving to Canadian or European universities. Their dealing with their own problems funding higher education.

Why not a project with the goal of coming up with narratives and strategies that promotes their core values to voters? Makes it look like they don't have any values at all....

Opening the new series “Ideologies of Control,” D&S’s @jakemetcalf.bsky.social and Meg Young examine how a small group of tech billionaires is pushing an anti-democratic agenda. www.techpolicy.press/tech-power-a...

Made the mistake of going down an "is USAID really corrupt" rabbit hole and what I can gather is that the "corruption" is either a) funding programs the current regime does not like or b) employing outside vendors to provide government services (something GOP pushed for in the 90's) as corruption

The combination of #artificialintelligence and #socialmedia poses a threat to democracy. Our new paper explains how AI swarms can fabricate grassroots consensus, fragment shared reality, engage in mass harassment, interfer with elections, and erode institutional trust: osf.io/preprints/os...

Almost 40 years old, and I don't think there's a better hip hop album... At least in my judgment

people are always mixtures of good and bad impulses... But right now, the libidinal desire to see "chaos and destruction"among half of the country is overwhelming our sense of decency and humanity... Not sure how that changes
