Bush became unpopular - an electoral millstone around the neck of Republicans - so the media invented a fake story where the current crop of Republicans repudiated Bushism even though literally none of their policies changed except for being harsher on immigrants.

I heard Stephen A. Smith tell CNN yesterday that "people are afraid they're going to lose their job for messing up a pronoun" and it really amazes me how many people don't realize they are awash in intentional propaganda designed to make them afraid of the wrong things and angry at the wrong people
