If you were reading a multiple-POV novel, each chapter in 3rd person, and then, late in the book, there was a chapter in 1st person, would you: A) Freak out B) Roll with it C) Throw the book down and swear never to read anything by this knucklehead again Asking for a friend.

[1/2] "The Trump Administration has a zero tolerance policy for criminal behavior and violence, especially when that violence is aimed at law enforcement officers trying to do their jobs."--White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, on the deployment of National Guard troops to LA

I almost never do this, but I wrote the final chapter of my current WIP before I wrote the chapters in between it and where I am now. It'll almost certainly change a lot once I fill in the gap, but it was nice to write "The End."

At today's Greater Pittsburgh Festival of Books. My body was as cold as it looks, but my heart was warmed by all the book lovers who visited my table.

Authors Row at the Greater Pittsburgh Festival of Books. Great crowd despite chilly weather!

I love this truism!

Since when did Christopher Walken become a Constitutional law scholar and start wearing such a snappy bow tie?

A new favorite quote I saw at the Pittsburgh Botanical Garden.

If you're from #Pittsburgh and love #reading, you should come to the Greater Pittsburgh Festival of Books on May 31. You know I'll be there! www.pittsburghbookfestival.org

Hey #Pittsburgh, I'm attending Indivisible's event, “Bark in the Park” - sign up now to join me! www.mobilize.us/speakoutdemo...

I've watched the first two episodes of "Dune: Prophecy" on Max. I kind of like it, though I have absolutely no idea what the eff is going on.

I totally agree with this analysis. Shelton was a horrible manager, but the real problem is the cheapskate owner. My son has a good idea: require a minimum payroll to own a MLB team. If you're unwilling to put up the dollars, you have to sell the club. sports.yahoo.com/mlb/article/...

My sci-fi adventure "Lena, Writing on Stone" is among 18 short stories that appear in this anthology--a steal at only $0.99. www.amazon.com/Altered-Worl...

My daughter found this little beauty on her morning walk. A reminder that, for all the world's problems, abundant small miracles remain.

I #amwriting a new manuscript: multiple POV contemporary/historical/literary/horror mashup. Only about 1/4 of the way in, but I'm liking it. Can't wait for @irisblasi.bsky.social to see it when it's done!

Who agrees that chapter titles are an artform? I’ve tried various approaches, from having chapter titles rhyme to using the first words of the sentence as the title. In my Ecosystem books, there are no titles or numbers, just a reproduction of the cover image. Anyone else take a creative approach?

For the second time this week, two different people with whom I was having a conversation used the word "reactionary" when they meant "reactive." This makes me fear that, as with the words "lie" and "lay," the distinction will soon be lost altogether. The horror.

I had a great time with my daughter this weekend. We hung out with herons, feasted on falafel, and split our sides seeing "The Book of Mormon." The weekend was a belated 60th birthday present, and it couldn't have been better!

Hoppy #timetravel Easter with Peter Cottontail!

Today's #Pittsburgh protest. Keep the pressure on! Don't let up!

Every university in the United States should be doing this. Now.

#TimeTravelAuthors 4/13: Why would I want to keep time travel from being confusing?

The thing about so-called generative artificial intelligence is, the intelligence isn't artificial. It's real. It's OURS. The techbros stole our intelligence (our data, our thoughts, our stories, our art) and used the software to regurgitate it and spackle it together into digital particleboard.

Congratulations!

Multiple protests today in Pittsburgh (and hundreds throughout the land). I was at this one.

#TimeTravelAuthors 4/1: In MYRIAD, time cop Miriam Randle travels back 20 years to get some donuts before her favorite donut shop changes its name and shrinks its eponymous product to the approximate size of a miniature Nilla wafer. angryrobotbooks.my.canva.site/myriad

I'm so embarrassed. I announced that I signed with a new agent, but I didn't "@" her. So, here's @irisblasi.bsky.social of ARC LIterary Management, my new advocate (co-conspirator?) in bringing my weird and wonderful stuff to the public!

I think I should qualify for hazard pay because of the number of students I have to dodge as they walk through the halls on their phones paying absolutely no attention to anyone or anything else.

Proud of my alma mater for supporting the rights of trans people against the orange monkey's cruel and discriminatory attacks. Stay strong, Penn. www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-...

Happy #PiDay if you cerebrate!
