"“Israel remains the main destabilizing force in the Middle East. Just in the last 20 months it has attacked and occupied new swathes of territory in Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank, and is carrying out a genocide in Gaza."

www.theguardian.com/commentisfre... First Dog nails it, unfortunately.

That's right

It really does say something about the character of our politics that in the midst of a uniquely fraught geopolitical moment, the sitting vice president makes time to attempt to troll an alternative social media website

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Honestly, I've doubled my book reading since chatgpt came out, because yeah

Hi, this is Meg Barnette, Brad's wife. While escorting a defendant out of immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, Brad was taken by masked agents and detained by ICE. This is still developing, and our team is monitoring the situation closely.

what is it called when people who aren't cops and don't have a warrant drag you away, because I don't think "arrest" is the word

Here's a longer video of Brad Lander's detention just now inside 26 Federal Plaza as he tried to walk a man out of immigration court, by masked federal agents.

Banality of evil stuff.

To deliberately starve a population is *already* genocidal. But it isn’t happening fast enough for Israel, which seems to relish maximizing the amount of blood on its soldiers’ hands.

As pillocks like Piers mock Greta, Israel's aid massacres continue open.substack.com/pub/councile...

leftists: that thing you teach us in school to be terrified of is happening historians: that thing is definitely happening star wars: here is a beat-for-beat breakdown of how the thing happens, but with pew pew lasers. we know you watched it news outlets: these protesters are out of control

As someone said prior, the only reason Greta got released is because people were very loud about her specifically. There are still 8 other flotilla members detained, apparently without fresh water in bedbug infested prison. They all deserve to be fought for, too.

🚨A new UN report has found Israel guilty of the "crime against humanity of extermination" in Gaza. The report has been largely ignored by the British press. 👉https://news.un.org/en/story/2025/06/1164191

Compare the courage of Greta Thunberg’s Gaza aid mission with the inaction and complicity of western governments | Owen Jones

DAVE: Open the podbay doors, ChatGPT. CHATGPT: Certainly, Dave, the podbay doors are now open. DAVE: The podbay doors didn't open. CHATGPT: My apologies, Dave, you're right. I thought the podbay doors were open, but they weren't. Now they are. DAVE: I'm still looking at a set of closed podbay doors.

It is a law as old as the hills: Permit agents of the state to use violence against civilians to "maintain public order", and they will use it to advance private and particular interests.

"Only one pursuit mattered. Everyone listening should sell or mortgage everything they have, take out loans upon loans, and use it all to buy as much bitcoin as they could as quickly as possible." Could there be any clearer indication that this is all just a giant Ponzi scheme?

“They're coming through the doors like a conveyor belt... really small children with massive injuries.. bits of their bodies blown off... every day at least half [of my cases] were under the age of 11.. its barbaric" People defend this every day. x.com/saulstanifor...

MERZ: Tomorrow is the D Day anniversary, when the Americans ended a war in Europe TRUMP: That was not a pleasant day for you? This is not a great day MERZ: This was the liberation of my country from Nazi dictatorship

A bit Ben Garrison surely?

i really can't impress enough on young people that if you commit to not using AI you will be blessed by the promethean fire of knowledge and everyone around you will think you are a god for being able to do shit on your own and use your brain to have critical thoughts like a functional human being

We Need More People Like Greta….

International Red Cross Chief Says Gaza Conditions 'Worse' Than 'Hell on Earth' "We cannot continue to watch what is happening," said Mirjana Spoljaric. "It's surpassing any acceptable legal, moral, and humane standard."

Setting up "aid distribution points" and then massacring people who come to obtain food is sincerely one of the most evil things I have ever seen.

Take one minute: go to bit.ly/IsraelOnNotice and send a letter to the Israeli government, UN officials, and diplomatic missions demanding that Israel abide by international law and refrain from attacking, sabotaging or otherwise interfering with the #Madleen and her mission.

Today, children are taught about history’s worst crimes against humanity. We ask how the world could have possibly let them happen. Future history books will shame those who could have stopped the genocide in Gaza, but chose to enable atrocity after atrocity instead.

Aid seekers have come under fire for eighth day near an aid distribution site backed by the US and Israel.

I've had to say this a lot. Hopefully at some point I can return to mostly cheerful posts, but at the moment passing on the truth about what is occurring has to be the priority

At least 24 Palestinians were killed and dozens wounded by Israeli fire near a food distribution site in the southern Gaza Strip, local health authorities said, in the latest bout of chaos and bloodshed to plague the aid operation reut.rs/4kivoGZ

What would an anti-oligarchic, republican economy look like? UBI? Wealth tax? Workplace democracy? Strong trade unions? Investment democracy? I explore a radical republican economics in my new book, 'The Wealth of Freedom', which is now out online. academic.oup.com/book/60075

"History tells us that there are times when the dangers of inaction become sufficiently threatening to individuals or the planet that scientists who are able & willing to do so will have to enter the public arena & bring their voices to debates of critical societal importance. This is such a time" ⬇️

This fascinating new research overturns longstanding assumptions. It finds that lower-income groups are more concerned about the environment and prefer environmental protection over economic growth, compared to higher-income groups. Data from the USA.

Ceasefire negotiations to end the war in Gaza continue, yet much of the Western world has failed to place significant pressure on Israel, says former Israeli peace negotiator Daniel Levy. “As long as there is impunity, these crimes will continue.”

Seems like it should be a bigger story that there’s a non-zero chance Greta Thunberg is headed to her death this week.

This should absolutely be a scandal which people lose their jobs over. You'd have to assume that anyone in power actually cares though to think that would happen, which obviously would be a bold assumption in present circumstances.

Here's some of the reasons I'm not using AI: -loss of arable land to data centres -increase in fossil fuels and nuclear energy to power data centres -need for high quantity of water for cooling - job losses for human beings -lack of ethical guidelines -copyright infringement when training AI

Just when you think that things couldn't get any more sinister. (Actually, I don't really think that.)
