When I was in middle school, I was obsessed with the song "1985" by Bowling For Soup. That was released in 2004, but I didn't get an iPod Mini until 2005. I am now as far from 2005 as I was from 1985 when I loved that song. The years keep coming and they don't stop coming.

It’s so wild to me that the focus of a lack of regulations on AI is about copyright. We’re talking a real risk of human extinction via powerful automated systems in an multiple-way unregulated arms race scenario, and the reason you should call your representative is copyright.

I have two jokers left for Completionist+++ on Balatro. Both are dogshit jokers, one being a D tier joker (half joker) and the other being an F tier (diet cola). Completely worthless jokers, I have to have a build strong enough to carry me with 4 jokers and leave the fifth slot for the benchwarmer.

To make it a lot easier to see what brain surgery on SplatGPT is doing (or as one of my friends put it, the "Remy" from Ratatouille model), I had to go back to this older project and update it. Here's the builds found on stat.ink as of October 2024. Cluster labels are automatically assigned.

“All art is political” is such a weird modern motte and bailey. You’re either using a definition of political so broad it’s meaningless (but easily defensible) or a specific lens (which is not). The former is like if I said “all art is physics” which isn’t wrong but isn’t saying anything, either.

I actually found a feature that tells the model “hey build a QR focused Stamper build.” If I do model surgery, I can sure enough force a Comeback Stealth Jump build to redirect to QR. This is interesting!

I'm continuing work on SplatGPT, specifically with interpretability, and the "English please, nerd" model found a feature that legitimately all it does is activate on heavy edit splatling and tell it "add run speed up and special up, stat." Insane

Casting a black actor as Snape has some unfortunate implications. Snape calls Lily “mudblood”, a pretty clear metaphor for racial slurs. James is now a rich white dude bullying a poor black kid. But most importantly the death eaters are an analog to white supremacy. A black white supremacist.
