The problem with the argument that Iranian nuclear capability was not "imminent" is that if your assessment is off by a few weeks -- note: Iran works hard to cloud our assessments -- it's game over. We all knew where Iran was going. The only way to "preempt" is to *prevent.*

Is Iran ready for change? "Huge nationwide protests erupted in 2009 over allegations of vote-rigging... economic protests broke out in 2017 and 2019. More broke out in 2022 over the death of Mahsa Amini after police detained her for not wearing her headscarf." www.independent.co.uk/news/world/m...

It would really be something if SCOTUS gives Trump a pass for using military force to intimidate Americans in L.A., only to be impeached by his own MAGA for using it to defend American interests abroad. www.newsweek.com/thomas-massi...

Much as I would not dare to predict the consequences of this war, I do think we can summarize it thusly so far: A smart and evil man manipulated a stupid and evil man into a war against a fanatical and evil regime.

Doesn’t this just encapsulate his thoughtlessness and cruelty? Every other President of our lifetime, of any party, would have been on the phone almost immediately to offer support. And would have made very public statements decrying the violence.

Fantastic interview with @cliffsloan.bsky.social on the public political linkages between SCOTUS + FDR: campaigning, writing legislation, and personal fealty to the President. I knew about Korematsu and Court-packing; I'm embarrassed how much of the rest I didn't. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

Today's celebration of the Army's 250th birthday has been brought to you by Amazon, Coinbase, Lockheed Martin, and Palantir. Literally and seriously. newsgpt.ai/2025/06/13/a...

If the Secretary of Homeland Security shows up in your state to say she’s “liberating” a city from the elected government, you’re goddamn right the state’s US Senator should barge in to ask some questions.

When Democrats recapture the House, what articles will rise to the top of the impeachment list?

It's gonna be a long, hot summer.

A terrifying escalation:

We're gonna have to read more military trade publications.

JPMorgan compares DJT to Peron: "The risk for markets is that U.S. policymakers repeat the mistakes of LatAm leaders such as former Argentinian Pres. Peron: protectionism, lack of central bank independence and a broader disregard for macroeconomic stability." www.jpmorgan.com/content/dam/...

Fire 90% of staff, then hire back when things start to break. The cruel and counterproductive kabuki of all this is exactly what Musk did when he bought Twitter. That's fine if you own the joint, and all that's at stake are tweets or rockets. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

In case you weren't tired yet of the NYT's palliative headlines.

Worth watching the entire press conference from this immensely composed 18-year-old high schooler who got out of nearly a week in ICE custody just an hour before. youtu.be/aLb1WLw3VoE

Great opportunity for Trump to conclude that Musk broke a ton of laws / the Constitution by accessing so much data protected by statute / wielding so much power without Senate confirmation and needs to be deported to Chad

Wait. Is Tesla an aspirational brand again?

In one post, Trump eviscerates entire basis for DOGE and amplifies conflicts of interest Musk had as head of cost-cutting effort.

DC lawyers, today is your LAST DAY to stop MAGA from taking over the DC Bar. Super quick to vote online. All the info you need in this thread:
